2021-22 Basketball Cards Release Dates, Checklists and Set Information
While the NBA was getting back to normal following the pandemic, the 2021-22 basketball cards lineup wasn’t totally there just yet. The sets and brands looked a lot like 2020-21 but the change of schedule last season pushed things back.

2021-22 Basketball Cards Overview
Panini was the major player once again. They’ve got the exclusive NBA basketball card license, one they’ve held since 2009-10. They’re also the lone basketball card maker for the WNBA and virtually every major collegiate program in the United States.
That doesn’t mean they were the only company though. Upper Deck and Onyx Authenticated both have sets that are heavy on draft picks. Topps got back in basketball cards with Overtime Elite.
New NIL licensing rules also offer new rules and eligibility for active collegiate players.
As far as rookies go, top draft picks Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley and Scottie Barnes were among the key players heading into the season.
For the second year in a row, the new basketball card season got a late start as the industry continued to deal with pandemic-caused schedule changes and global supply chain challenges.

I’m confused. It’s the 2022-2023 NBA season right now. Are the 2022-2023 cards not being produced until after this season? Are 2021-2022 sets the most recent ones available for the NBA?
2022-23 Hoops comes out this week. Everything in the industry has been behind for the last year or so.
Hey Ryan- I have kind of a silly question. Just getting back into collecting…so many damn varieties. I redeemed a card in the mail from Panini. 2021-2022 Contenders Rookie Ticket #109 Davion Mitchell Green Shimmer Auto. It is not numbered, but is a Premier. What does the Premier signify? Does that mean it is a 1/1? Thanks so much for your time! Scott
Looking at the checklist here: https://www.beckett.com/news/2021-22-panini-contenders-basketball-cards/ Green Shimmers are not serial numbered. Premium Edition signifies that it’s on chromium stock I believe.
