It’s not NBA, but Topps Chrome is back on the basketball court. 2021-22 Topps Chrome Overtime Elite Basketball brings a prospecting angle, similar to the Topps Now sets they’ve done for the developmental program.
The league might be different, but the set up is similar to a lot of other recent Topps Chrome releases. Autographs are two per hobby box. Collectors will also find a lot of parallels and inserts.
The base set isn’t a big one, consisting of 100 cards. Players come from the Overtime Elite league, a non-traditional place for student-age players to get an education and develop their basketball skills. In hobby terms, these are prospects aiming to eventually make their way to the NBA but not necessarily through college.
More than a dozen parallels are available in hobby packs:
Refractors – 1:3 packs
OTE Refractors – 1:18 packs (hobby only)
Purple Refractors – /299
Purple/Pink OTE Refractors – /299 (hobby only)

Some base cards also have short-printed Image Variations with different photos. These have their own Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
Retail blasters are the lone place to fine RayWave Refractors. These are two per box.
Autographs and Inserts
Signatures are kept fairly simple in 2021-22 Topps Chrome Overtime Elite Basketball. Chrome Autographs, which have a similar design as the main set, are the only place to find signed cards in the product.
As far as inserts go, Topps 1969 Basketball reaches back in time, using the landmark 1969-70 design as its inspiration. These have Blue Refractors (/50), hobby-only Orange Basketball Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Superfractors (1/1). These are the most plentiful inserts, landing 1:3 packs.
Levitate (1:6 packs) highlights players with a knack for soaring on the court while Future Problems (1:6 packs) focuses on top OTE standouts.
Superfly is the scarcest of the standard inserts, falling 1:216 hobby packs. The psychedelic design draw’s from the ’70s, bringing plenty of color.
Parallels for Levitate, Future Problems and Superfly come in Blue/Purple Refractors (/50), Orange Basketball Refractors (/25), Red/Green Refractors (/5), Printing Plates (1/1) and Superfractors (1/1).
