1997-98 UD Game Jersey Michael Jordan Autograph Nets $1.44 Million
They come close, but a Michael Jordan card has topped $1 million for the first time at auction. A 1997-98 Upper Deck Game Jersey Michael Jordan autograph sold for $1.44 million on early on Friday, February 5 through Heritage Auctions.
The card has several notable and historic features.
Perhaps most important, it’s the first Michael Jordan autographed memorabilia card.
The jersey swatch inside the card isn’t a generic gamer, either (at least as much as one could get on the MJ scale). It comes from a jersey Jordan wore during the 1992 NBA All-Star Game.
The 1997-98 Upper Deck Game Jersey Michael Jordan autograph has just 23 copies, each hand-numbered. It was found in 1997-98 Upper Deck Series 2 packs. Jordan also has a standard jersey card in the insert set.
This particular copy of the card is copy 8/23 and has a grade of NM 7 from PSA.
Jordan paced the auction event, the first from Heritage dedicated exclusively to modern cards.
A PSA 10 1986-87 Fleer Michael Jordan RC fetched $645,000. Two other copies of the card sold for $738,000 each less than a week earlier on January 30 through Goldin Auctions.
A 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Michael Jordan came close to a half-million, going for $480,000.
Graded NM-MT BGS 8, it’s copy 052/100. That said, only 90 cards have the red background. The first ten copies are green. A copy of one of the PMG Green cards sold on December 13, 2020 for $915,000.
Hi, I have a signed Michael Jordan 1991 Upper Deck that I would like for you to see; and give me your honest opinion about it.
