Upper Deck reveals booklet card 16 Michael Jordan autographs
By Susan Lulgjuraj | Beckett Basketball Editor
What’s better than pulling a card with a Michael Jordan autograph?
How about a card with 16 Michael Jordan autographs?
Upper Deck released images of 16-autograph booklets that will be in 2012-13 Exquisite Collection Basketball. One of the booklets will have 16 autographs with players such as Jordan, LeBron James, Larry Bird, Bill Walton and Clyde Drexler.
However, the next two sneak peeks really intrigued collectors.
One of the booklets will have Jordan’s sticker autographed placed 16 times on the booklet all with different head shots next to the signature.
Another booklet with do the same with NBA star LeBron James – 16 autographs all from the same player.
What do you think of these cards?

This just seems like overkill. I’m not sure how this will be received by the masses, but it seems like a waste rather than something that’s unique and different. I’m pretty sure that a card with 16 MJ sigs (or Lebron, or 16 of any one person for that matter) isn’t going to be any more valuable than a card with one signature of said player. I’m interested to see what one of these sells for and how it is received, but in my opinion it just seems like it’s overkill.
Ridiculous – but I want it!
Overly redundant, just like Panini putting multiple logomen of the same player on a card. UD should have made a giant card with a UNC inscription and Jordan autograph on card and not a bunch of recycled photos and stickers.
Stickers run amok!
I think Beckett should create an award to recognize the dumbest idea of the year. This one would certainly take the cake. This has been evident for several years now, but UD just doesn’t get it anymore. Are they even collectors?!
I’d rather get a redemption card (yes, I used the “r” word) that had them send me 16 individual
auto cards of him.
Hmmmm, makes me wonder if they’re liquidating? Why else would you put 16 autos on one card/item? I saw this and immediately requested a replacement for my pending Jordan redemption.
it would have been nice if the 16 signatures were a progression from high school, college, pro ( pre UDA exclusive) and stuff. Then we can see the evolution of his signature.
UD = IDIOTS. Why not give 15 other people, who will be spending thousands of dollars a chance to pull the elusive Jordan Autograph instead of 1 collector who will pull 16 of them (ON A STICKER?!) on one card.
We need Upper Deck back because Panini is just KILLING the market – and I mean killing in negative terms. They are putting out some C R A P, and not to mention, record amounts of C R A P.
I join the consensus on this and say that it is terrible.
The booklet with 16 different signatures is cool, although it would be way better if they could use pro logos and such. The one with 16 of the same player, I’m with the guy that said he’s rather 16 different cards.
While it certainly looks like over kill, we might all be truly shocked at the ending price.
And in a hobby which could use something new and exciting, this could be the start.
who is to say this card won’t sell for $30k? Maybe more? That will totally make news and perhaps start another trend, multi signed card from one player.
It’s official … I no longer understand Upper Deck.
I would much more prefer a nice clean auto that you can read and looks nice. It seems like they took the crappiest signatures they could find and put em on one card as if they have run out of ideas.
What’s Bill Walsh doing in a basketball product???
Shaka808, why do we need UPPER DECK back. If this is the crap they are going to produce I hope they go the way of the dinosaur. This is overkill. UPPER DECK is putting crap like this out just to keep themself relavent. The only problem is that it is at the exspence of the collectors. I can’t even pull one damn Jordan autograph
Just because they can make a Jordan card with 16 sticker autographs on it doesn’t make it a good idea.
Absolutely love reading everyone posts. Is there anyone in the business/hobby that is happy or does everyone wake up miserable and looking to complain. I read people complain how Topps and Panini keep putting out the same old stuff with each and every release. Then, a company puts out something different and even more people complain out this.
While I am not a huge fan of 16 of the same autograph at least its something different!!!! Kinda curious though, and this goes out to all of the UD haters out there….Why do you keep reading any News posts related to Upper Deck products. We get it your not going to buy it. Why not find a product you like and are going to purchase it and post something positive about it.
just my 2 cents
Wow another dumb idea waste of all those auto’s reminds me of the Topps Letterman
fold out of Players name on amanufactuted letters all signed –Didn’t work then won’t now.
I don’t have a MJ auto still hoping to pull one someday but I wouldn’t want this one .
That said not everyone may see it my way and like it But only a few I would guess.
How about Getting MJ in Topps OR PANINI PRODUCTS for a change
Tom
C’mon people the card is friggin awesome!! What sane collector would not want that card? Great job Upper Deck!!
i’d rather have his signature and then 15 different inscriptions
they already whored out MJ, now they gotta go and bring his value even further down by putting 16 (on stickers mind you) autographs on one card? i’d be stoked to pull it, but would you really want to purchase a card like that?
i honestly would be happier pulling the card with 16 different greats…
The irony here is that some day Upper Deck will be buying back the card so it can cut it into 16 pieces to make brand new “cut auto” cards …
Would anyone want a basketball signed by the same player 16 times? Or anything signed by the same player 16 times? An insanely bad idea.
Better idea: Insert a redemption card for a sheet of sticker autos that have not yet been placed on anything – then you could create signed items out of anything you want!
Steve, I am a perfectly happy collector of cards but agree with you totaly about all the complaining. I think it was at least a different idea to help create what they want….a buzz about thier product so that folks will buy. I still don’t get the whole relic (if you want something, why not buy the whole jersey) and auto thing (unless in person) but that’s just me. If your happy, then I’m happy for you, whatever you collect.
This is so dumb… Makes no sense! I’d rather have 16 different cards or 16 different players. What is the point of this? This should be an eye opener to every collector our hobby is doomed.
WHAT THA!!!!!! Are they serious?
Its called JUMPING THE SHARK.
Well if no one wants this card ill take it! This card is sweet! A bit over
The top but still very very cool!
Rediculous.
Sure, something to stir the pot and get people talking. I don’t even collect basketball cards anymore and this caught my attention. But seriously, an item with 16 autos of the same player? There will be a collector out there who will pay in the thousands of dollars for this, so good for them. But for the average collector, this is nothing more than a lottery ticket designed as a marketing scheme. Good luck.
