In preparation for the forthcoming issue of Beckett Hockey, we’re brewing our own list of reasons that justify all the obsessin’ over Alex Ovechkin. But we wanted to turn the microphone over to his loyal hobby fans as well.
Is it his visor? His Rookie Card from 2005-06 The Cup? His I’m-not-afraid-to-lose-a-tooth-or-two grill? Leave us a comment explaining why he’s your player, and who knows — your words might appear in the Top 10 reader reasons section featured in the November issue.

not bad
First off, if your vote was not for his front tooth, your obsession with the “REAL” face of the new NHL, is not great enough to be put into print, atleast not this article. Main reason, he plays the game in a way that no one has ever done before, or he has just been so good to get recognized for it while all players before were not good enough to get the attention, which is very hard to believe. It is nice to see a player, especially the most talented, play his craft and have fun and smile while doing so. That is another first in the NHL. OV is also so big, strong, fast, and he plays like we know it. He takes away almost 95% of the Russian, NHL, stereotypes. He loves knocking people through the boards, going at the net 100MPH, and basically throwing his body around like a mad-man. The NHL finally has that face that says, I love what I do, oh and, don’t care what you think.
