Top 20 X-Men Trading Cards
Whether it’s comics or the blockbuster movies, X-Men trading cards cover a lot of ground. And over the years, the franchise has produced some impressive — and valuable — pieces. Sets based on the early films came with large autograph rosters, featuring some highly desirable signatures. Other sets have some extremely tough inserts. No matter the case, here’s a look at the 20 most valuable X-Men trading cards.
20 Most Valuable X-Men Trading Cards
20. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Famke Janssen
Jean Grey in the original trilogy, Famke Janssen has appeared in many other notable films including GoldenEye. Her place in the James Bond film resulted in a couple of other autographs. Although this is a solid card, it’s merely “average” when you stack it up against the rest of the loaded autograph lineup of the original X-Men film.

19. 2006 Rittenhouse X-Men: The Last Stand Autographs Stan Lee
Stan Lee is the ultimate Marvel icon. A legend in the truest sense, he has many cards of note. This particular autograph was given as a two-case incentive for Rittenhouse’s lone go with one of the original X-Men movies. It’s not the rarest autograph out there or a particularly scarce card in vast portfolio of X-Men trading cards, but given Lee’s place in history, many have made their way into personal collections over the years.

18. 1991 X-Men Jim Lee Autograph
Jim Lee’s signature style is a hallmark of early-1990s comics. In 1991, Comic Images did an entire set of X-Men trading cards all with Lee’s art. A total of 1,000 cards were signed, all on the blank back. The front of the card notes the presence of the signature.

17. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Rebecca Romijn-Stamos
Before Jennifer Lawrence there was Rebecca Romijn-Stamos. The model was the first actress to don the blue body paint to play Mystique on the big screen. This card isn’t available in packs. Rather, it was given out after the set’s release as an incentive to those ordering through Diamond Distributors.

16. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Sir Ian McKellen
Ian McKellen is no stranger to autograph cards. However, most of them feature the two-time Oscar nominee as a bearded wizard in Topps’ Lord of the Rings sets. Despite appearing in all three of the original X-Men films, this is his only Magneto autograph card.

15. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Hugh Jackman
Hugh Jackman has been the centerpiece of the X-Men movie universe from the beginning. His take on Wolverine has covered several franchise’s central films. And before he utters his last, “Bub!” on the big screen, Jackman will have starred in a separate Wolverine trilogy. Despite being part of Hollywood’s A-list, the Australian actor has several autograph cards. Spoiler alert — this won’t be the last you see of him.

14. 2014 Upper Deck Marvel Premier Classic Covers Shadow Box #CSB42
Upper Deck is very good at creating insert sets collectors want to chase and build. Knowing that, they often do some of their premium insert sets with short prints to make it more challenging and creating some added value with certain cards. This is one of them. Coming out of their premium 2014 Upper Deck Marvel Premier release, the Shadow Box format adds a depth to the cover art of the first Ultimate X-Men issue.

13. 2006 Rittenhouse X-Men: The Last Stand Autographs Anna Paquin
As strong as Topps’ 2000 X-Men set is as far as autographs go, Rittenhouse’s set for the third film is even deeper. While that means there are several secondary characters that don’t get a lot of attention now, there are still some big ones. Anna Paquin is one of them. Besides being one of the bigger names on the checklist, she’s also one of the rarest. Although an exact print run hasn’t been released, Rittenhouse labeled the card as being “Very Limited.” That means between 200 and 300 copies exist.

12. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Anna Paquin
Paquin also appeared in the original Topps set. Like Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, she was a late addition to the checklist and not in packs. Rather she was a second Diamond Distributors incentive card. One of the two cards were given to dealers for every four boxes they ordered through the offer.

11. 2014 Upper Deck Marvel Premier Classic Covers Shadow Box #CSB38
Much like the previous Shadow Box card, this one gets a lot of its value from being a short print. The fact that it’s part of a high-end release certainly helps matters as well. This card recreates one of the covers of the first issue of the 1990s X-Men series.

10. 1997 X-Men Timelines Wanted Posters Charles Xavier #2
This card doesn’t look very fancy. It’s just like the other three cards in the insert set that combines to land 1:12 packs. However, Professor Xavier is a rare short print making him the most wanted of the die-cut Wanted Posters cards.

9. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Bryan Singer
Under normal circumstances, directors make for boring autograph cards. A couple of exceptions exist, but not many. Bryan Singer is one of them. Yes, he’s brought some high-profile blockbusters to the big screen but it’s the card’s rarity that makes this card more valuable than some names that are, arguably, bigger. This is one of the toughest cards to pull in the product, landing 1:1,267 hobby packs.

8. 2006 Rittenhouse X-Men: The Last Stand Autographs Kelsey Grammer
Kelsey Grammer seemed like a curious casting choice at the time to play Beast in an X-Men film. The comic book-based action genre is about as far as a departure from the dry humor that made his Frasier Crane such a memorable character on Cheers and its spin-off, Frasier. And it’s that role and notoriety that came with it that adds to a lot of the appeal of this card. Rarity is also a factor with 200 to 300 copies made.

7. 2006 Rittenhouse X-Men: The Last Stand Autographs Patrick Stewart
Between Professor Xavier and Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Patrick Stewart has plenty of autograph cards for collectors to choose from. But he’s your genre version of a superstar. Both roles are memorable and key to their respective franchises. Limited to less than 300 copies, it’s one of the most coveted autographs on a deep checklist.

6. 2009 Rittenhouse X-Men Origins: Wolverine Autographs Hugh Jackman (Profile)
This Hugh Jackman autograph card wasn’t included in packs of Rittenhouse’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine set. It wasn’t an incentive either. Rather, they sold it on its own as an expansion card of sorts. Jackman also has another autograph in the set that was found in packs. That one has the character holding out his trademark claws. Although a popular card, it’s not quite as valuable as the variant that came direct from Rittenhouse.

5. 2003 Topps X2: X-Men United Autographs Bryan Singer
Singer’s autograph card from the first X-Men movie made its way onto the list by being inserted 1:1,267 packs. His card for the sequel is 1:4,337 packs. Print runs could come into play as far as total number of cards, but no matter how much of the product was printed, that’s a tough pull. Needless to say, it’s a card that has multiple layers of appeal given Singer’s stature in Hollywood and those looking to complete their autograph runs.

4. 2009 Rittenhouse X-Men Origins: Wolverine Autographs Ryan Reynolds
The lone Ryan Reynolds autograph card has been popular ever since it first came out. But the success of Deadpool has taken it to another level. And given the sequel potential for the character, it might not be done yet. And while this is a very different version of the character portrayed on the card, it’s still an autograph of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Between 300 and 500 copies of the card were produced.

3. 1995 Marvel Masterpieces Mirage #2
Crazy times, those mid-1990s were. When it comes to comic lines and trading cards, Marvel Masterpieces has to be considered one of the most iconic of all-time. But as the line pressed on and overall interest in trading cards waned, print runs started to shrink. This came to a head with the final set in the original Marvel Masterpieces run in 1996, but some of the 1995 inserts are pushing some heavy prices today. Case in point, the two-card 1995 Marvel Masterpieces Mirage set. Each of the cards now commands several hundred dollars. And that’s for some basic lenticular action that cycles through a few different images. One features Avengers characters, the other has X-Men. Inserted 1:360 packs, they’re extremely tough to find.

2. 2000 Topps X-Men Movie Autographs Patrick Stewart
Besides Bryan Singer, Patrick Stewart is the other short-printed autograph in the original film’s set — at least among cards found in packs. But Bryan Singer is no Professor X. He’s no Star Trek captain either. Found almost 1:1,300 packs, it’s an extremely rare pull. Further adding to the card’s notoriety is the fact that they’re signed in gold ink.

1. 2006 Rittenhouse X-Men: The Last Stand Autographs Hugh Jackman
Take one of the most popular actors in Hollywood, create an autograph card of one of his most popular characters and make it an incentive for those ordering six cases (that’s 72 boxes, in case you were wondering). That’s the recipe for making the most coveted X-Men trading cards. Even though collectors have several Hugh Jackman autographs to pick from (including one from the dreadful Van Helsing), the nature of this card’s distribution and inherent rarity raise its value significantly.

Special Mention
2000 Topps X-Men Movie Halle Berry “Autograph”
This is one of those cards that’s real but not official. Rumor has it that Halle Berry was originally going to have an autograph in the set. Cards were printed but ultimately went unsigned, apparently due to an injury. A small number of the printed cards made their way to the secondary market. None were signed in any official capacity, though. So be wary if you encounter one that is and make sure it’s authenticated by a reputable service first as it may have been autographed more recently.

That’s a great list! Here are some non-autograph cards that could make an honorable mention list …
2011 Marvel Beginnings Marvel Villains Hologram #H6 Deadpool and #H31 Mystique. The 2013 and 2015 versions of the Marvel Fleer Retro Jambalaya insert cards of Wolverine and Deadpool. Finally, the parallel insert Green Precious Metal Gems (numbered to 10) of Wolverine and Deadpool also out of 2013 and 2015 Marvel Fleer Retro would be good additions to character collector collections.
Awesome. Thanks
Those may be cards and they may be marvel but they are movie cards not comic cards im talking early mid 90 comic cards i know they have started up again that would be awesome
I used to collect regular Marvel Masterpieces 1994 and 1995 (full set). 20 years later I found out they don’t worth much. How disappointing. :(
If only I got one of them Mirage cards!
I have a set of 6 94 Fleer limited edition Fatal Attraction. I don’t know where to sell or what they are worth. Help?

As for selling, eBay, a local comic or card shop or localized classifieds like Craigslist might be your easiest options.
It’s a little sad to see that the most valued X-men cards are from those movies and not the old comic cards (generally).
This list is very outdated. 2016 marvel masterpieces red spectrum 1/1 wolverine would be the most expensive card of all, followed by the 1/1 printing plates and the /10 silver spectrum and what if autographs. Now you can add the 2018 marvel masterpieces insert cards to that list. These movie cards are left in the dust.
