This Might Be One of the Cheapest T206 Honus Wagner Cards You’ll Ever See
By Ryan Cracknell | Hobby Editor
It’s definitely not the prettiest T206 Honus Wagner, but it is authentic. A SGC 10 copy of the card is being sold by Robert Edward Auctions.
Despite being in poor condition, the opening bid of $50,000 was quickly left in the dust. It’s now approaching the $200,000 with almost four weeks left in bidding.
It is a T206 Honus Wagner, after all.
This particular card is a Sweet Coporal back. It has the look that it has been well loved over the years with lots of creases, round corners and some paper marks on the back. All the while, the colors are still sharp and vivid.
According to the card’s description, this particular copy can be traced back to Brooklyn card dealer David Festberg. He acquired it at a card show in 1986 and offered it up for auction in 1993 with a minimum bid of $25,000. It was sold again at auction in 2008 for more than $225,000 and then sold privately to the current consignor.
The SGC 10 T206 Honus Wagner is part of the REA Spring 2016 Auction. Bidding closes on April 30.
