2019 Upper Deck Flair Marvel Trading Cards Mix Fine Art and a ’90s Vibe

Captain Marvel isn’t the only thing from the comic universe to draw inspiration from the ’90s. Flair is back. 2019 Upper Deck Flair Marvel trading cards revive the brand with a varied checklist that stresses original art from many of the industry’s best.

2019 Upper Deck Flair Marvel Base Blink

Like the 1990s, inserts come in many distinct forms. Each box should reflect this with the mix of what should appear regularly as well as some of the many themes that are tougher to come by.

2019 Upper Deck Flair Marvel Overview

From start to finish, the 2019 Upper Deck Flair Marvel base set is original art. It consists of 90 cards and features such artists as Bill Sienkiewicz, Dave DeVries, Kathryn Steele, Ray Lago, Tom Fleming and more.

Complimenting the base set are 60 Flairium inserts. These also highlight characters from across the Marvel universe with art from six artists: Jeff Esley, Sean “Cheeks” Galloway, E.M. Gist, Peach Momoko, Jim Pavelec, and Jonathan Wayshak.

Both the base and Flairium cards have randomly inserted Artist Autographs.

Inserts are a mix of new themes as well as drawing inspiration from ones introduced during Flair’s original run back in 1994 and 1995.

Power Blast Spectrum use a LtFX etched foil design, enabling colors to pop. In a different but similar vein are Lucky 8’s. These draw from popular Precious Metal Gems cards but, according to Upper Deck, apply it to a different design.

Singularity inserts draw from comics and characters to create a collage of sorts.

Through the Ages showcase the evolution of characters. They trace back to their origins and how they first looked and move through to today’s designs.

Totemic Teams are puzzle cards that build up. The idea here is to build teams. But rather than traditional puzzles or even filling out a binder page, these go up, like a totem.

Plexiglass cards make an appearance via Stained Glass. But rather than just printing cards on clear, thick stock, the art is done in a way that emphasizes the stained glass style.

Pieces of Flair is a manufactured patch set. Consisting of 37 cards, these recreate iconic comic corners. Pieces of Flair land approximately one per hobby box.

Like most sets of Upper Deck’s Marvel trading cards, sketch cards are also part of the equation. They’re fairly tough, though, falling every three or four boxes.

Original 1994 and 1995 Flair Marvel are available as buybacks.

Hi there I was a collector of the flair cards in 94 95 and I’m very interested in these new collection. Will this collection be available to buy from shops in England 🤞🏻

@Terry – Your best bet would be to contact a local dealer to see if they’re bringing it in. I’m sure there are lots of North American dealers who will ship worldwide, too.
