2009-10 National Treasures Stephen Curry Rookie Logoman Autograph Sells for Record $5.9 Million
Stephen Curry has a lot of records attached to his name. It might be his offseason, but he’s done it again, albeit far from a basketball court. Now he holds the record for having the most expensive sports card of all-time. The 2009-10 Playoff National Treasures Rookie Logoman Autograph Stephen Curry sold for $5.9 million.
The was purchased by Alt Fund II, the second investment fund managed by Alt. It’s a parallel of Curry’s most valuable Rookie Card,
Alt is an alternative asset investment company specializing in sports cards.
“We believe this card’s upside is tremendous and represents the best of the best of the entire sports card market,” said Leore Avidar, the company’s founder.
The one-of-one Curry card has a grade of NM-MT 8 from PSA.
The price tag tops the $5.2 million paid for a BGS 9 2003-04 Upper Deck Exquisite Rookie Parallel LeBron James in April and a PSA 9 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle in January. In June, Collectable announced that they topped that $5.2 million record with a 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth although the actual amount paid was not disclosed.
The previous high for a National Treasures Rookie Logoman Autograph was $4.6 million for the 2018-19 Luka Doncic. It was part of a private sale.
2009-10 Playoff National Treasures Basketball is significant for several reasons. One of the big ones is that it’s Panini’s first super-premium basketball product. It arrived during their first season with the NBA trading card exclusive. Since that time, the brand has become the cornerstone for top-level basketball Rookie Cards.
