First look: 2014 Topps Heritage Minor League

The minor leaguers are turning back the clock to 1965.
Topps released the basics on 2014 Topps Heritage Minor League edition on Wednesday, and like its big-league counterpart we’re headed back to the colorful pennant-filled year from the mid-1960s.
Each 24-pack box will include two autographs and one Relic when it arrives on Sept. 10.
The base set will consist of 200 cards with 25 short-prints and 25 variations to chase with four parallels per card — Black, 1/1 Blue, new Lime Green cards and 1/1 printing plates.
For the autographs, there will be Black, Red, Orange and 1/1 Blues as well as plates with Real One Dual autos pairing two players and Clubhouse Collection Patches pairing players’ autos with memorabilia. Serial-numbering was not announced.
Clubhouse Collection Relics will have Black and 1/1 Blue parallels to chase as well as patch versions.
Other inserts will include Hat Patch manufactured Relics and Baseball Flashbacks cards that are familiar in the big-league version.
Also returning is the Make Your Pro Debut contest where a collector can become a minor-leaguer for a day and appear on a future Topps baseball card.
A preliminary checklist was not released.

One thing that I like about Minor Leagues sets is the (sometimes ridiculous) minor league logos. Unfortunately though, heritage (because of how it stays true to the original set) doesn’t feature the logos as prominently as I would like. Even more unfortunately, it won’t feature the logos until we get around to paying tribute to ’85 and ’87.

I never said I dislike it… Actually, I like it alot (especially for getting autos at the game). Just because I mention one thing I don’t especially like about a set doesn’t mean I’m crying about it.
