2016-17 Funko Pop NHL Figures Include Big Stars, Canadian Exclusives

2016-17 Funko Pop NHL vinyl figures mark the third sports league where athletes have been given the distinct collectible makeover. The initial lineup includes ten players plus a handful of variants exclusive to collectors north of the border.
The 2016-17 Funko Pop NHL figures fall in line with the dozens of other Pop licenses. Figures stand 3.75-inches tall. And while they all have the trademark Pop look, most noted by the large heads and round, black eyes, things like jerseys and facial hair make it easier to figure out who they’re of. Skaters and goalies have different molds.
The first wave of 2016-17 Funko Pop NHL figures are all veterans. Top names include Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin and reigning Hart Trophy winner, Patrick Kane.
In addition to the ten main figures, there are six variants that are only available through Canadian hobby distributor, Grosnor. These simply put the player their white away jersey, an approach similar to what McFarlane has done for years with their Sports Picks line.
Hockey is the third sport to adopt the Pop line, joining basketball and football. UFC also has a handful of Pops. Major League Baseball did a line for some of their mascots, but not players.
2016-17 Funko Pop NHL figures are scheduled to arrive in November.
