Any fans out there plan on collecting cards of Leon Sandcastle, the fictitious football player from a Super Bowl commercial played by Deion Sanders?

The chase just might get bigger.

Topps revealed on Twitter its own Sandcastle card that will be in 2013 Bowman football, scheduled to come out June 6.

No word yet if Sandcastle will be short-printed or a regular card in the set.

Panini America announced last week Sandcastle cards would be inserted into 2013 Score retail packs and autographs would be placed in 2013 Prestige hobby packs.

For a character in a commercial, Sandcastle has gotten more buzz than any of the actual rookies from the 2013 NFL Draft.

I think this is cool. I hope reg topps has one. But make more than 50 of them… Not a ssssssp.

Not a surprise. They need SOMETHING to talk about and nobody out there looks to be
anything really great, hobby wise. I mean even if you manage to get 2-3 HOF level Offensive
Linemen out of this years crop, the hobby will yawn.

Yes, I do agree with you, Card Opionator.
With Pinini, Scores, the card looks way better than what Topps is trying to follow.
For creative and design I will say Panini does a greater job than Topps. Looks like Topps company is going down right now.

What does it say about this years draft class when card companies have to jump on board this played out gimmick to try and boost sales? I really think this whole thing was silly from the get-go and now its made its way on to cardboard? Yikes!

Collecting cards should be fun, not just for the money. This is great. I applaud Topps efforts like this, the squirrel, pie in he face cards, etc.
