When it comes to hobby superstars, the Milwaukee Bucks aren’t exactly a hotbed of history. The Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card lineup is looking to change that. The Athens-born star is quickly emerging as one of the NBA’s best. His dominant style and exciting play is getting him a lot of attention in both basketball and collecting circles.

GiannisRCHeader

Collectors have no shortage of Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Cards to choose from. From low-end to high-priced rarities, there are several points to jump in whether you’re looking to spend a few dollars or thousands.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card Rankings

Rankings are based on values from the Beckett Basketball Database and Price Guide. Only cards with the RC tag are included, not inserts and parallels. Exact values are available to subscribers.

19. 2013-14 Pinnacle Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #5

Once a popular brand in basketball some two decades earlier, the transition to basketball didn’t reach the same heights. The revived brand was one-and-done as a revived NBA set. Pinnacle didn’t return for the 2014-15 season. That’s generally a sign of a set’s reception. Given that it wasn’t a high-priced brand to begin with, it shouldn’t be surprising that this is one of the cheapest Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Cards.

18. 2013-14 Prestige Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #175

The majority of the 2013-14 Prestige base set spotlights in-game action photography. Rookies like Antetokounmpo have shots from a photo shoot. The fact that the Bucks guard is looking down makes for a different aesthetic, but it might be one that isn’t for everybody.

Parallels: Bonus Shots Blue, Bonus Shots Red, Bonus Shots Silver, Bonus Shots Gold (/10), Bonus Shots Green (/5), Bonus Shots Platinum (1/1)

17. 2013-14 Panini Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #194

Several of the cheaper Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Cards sell for roughly the same amounts. If your preference is for something with action photography, this is it. In fact, it’s his only RC with a full photo, background and all.

16. 2013-14 Panini Crusade Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #122

It’s pretty easy to overlook the base cards in 2013-14 Panini Crusade Basketball. Outside of the autographs and memorabilia cards, a lot of the focus fell on the namesake inserts that evoke a nod to the colorful 1990s. As far as the main part of the product goes, that color is gone and the result a little flat. That’s reflect in this card’s value. That said, it’s not the easiest card to find. Rare? No, but the Crusade inserts appear to be easier to find.

15. 2013-14 Hoops Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #275

Hoops has the distinction of being the first Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card. The set kicks off Panini’s new basketball card seasons. It’s not a luxury line. Actually, it’s far from it. But it might very well be the closest thing that the card maker has to a flagship product for basketball. That gives it a small boost compared to at least a couple of his other early cards.

14. 2013-14 Totally Certified Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #236

As a whole, 2013-14 Totally Certified Basketball is about two things: bold designs and the promise of an autograph or memorabilia card in every pack. The Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card certainly meets the latter with its bright foil backdrop. The parallels also have a lot of pop. If hits are more your style, the Greek Freak also has a Materials jersey cards thats numbered as part of the 2013-14 Totally Certified set.

Parallels: Red (/99), Blue (/49), Gold (/25), Green (/5), Black (1/1)

13. 2013-14 Select Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #178

2013-14 Select is similar to Prizm in that it relies on chromium for the card stock. Select was also bigger on autographs and memorabilia then, but that has little effect when it comes to Rookie Card values. The base version remains on the cheap side. Even the number of Refractor-like Prizms parallels are small compared to what the brand would soon become.

Parallels: Prizms, Prizms Purple (/99), Prizms Blue (/49), Prizms Gold (/10), Prizms Green (/5), Prizms Black (1/1)

12. 2013-14 Panini Signatures Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #351-360 /15

We’re going to cheat here a little. Technically, 2013-14 Panini Signatures has ten different Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Cards. They’re virtually identical except for the card number and the action photo on the front. With each numbered to just 15 copies, individual cards are extremely rare as well. However, take them all together and there are 150 cards. Still not a lot, but the low print runs for individual cards may actually work against their value as even locating all ten is so tough.

Parallels (for each card): Blue (/10), Red (/5), Green (/3), Platinum (1/1)

11. 2013-14 Court Kings Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #125

Taking inspiration from baseball’s Diamond Kings, 2013-14 Court Kings Basketball takes an artistic approach to its design. Base Rookie Cards have plenty of color. Everything is also printed on a canvas-style stock. Antetokounmpo and other rookies in the set have multiple cards in the main set. However, because these take a tiered approach, this one, which is the most plentiful, is considered to be the Rookie Card.

10. 2013-14 Elite Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #229 /999

The Elite brand has a long history with dark foil stock, no matter the sport. The 2013-14 Elite Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card is no different. And while the foil is no longer considered to be a premium selling point, the fact that it’s numbered — even to 999 — does help its value.

Parallels: Aspirations (/66), Status (/34), Gold (/24), Black (1/1)

9. 2013-14 Innovation Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #82 /199

2013-14 Innovation Basketball offered a mix of design styles and card stocks. For rookies like Antetokounmpo it meant framed cards with a plastic backdrop. This makes them see through and definitely not traditional. It’s almost as though they’re a Silhouettes card minus the memorabilia, autograph and premium price tag. That said, this is a card that looks different from the norm but is certainly interesting. At 199 copies, it’s not the easiest card to find, either.

Parallels: Purple (60 copies), Blue (/25), Gold (/10), Black (1/1)

8. 2013-14 Panini Titanium Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #115 /149

The big attraction here is the print run of 149 copies. Another factor with the 2013-14 Panini Titanium Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card is the fact that it was only found in retail packs. The set’s hobby version has several spins and parallels on the card as well.

Parallels: Jersey Number (/34), Titanium (/22), Rookie Jerseys Prime (/22), Draft Position (/15), Draft Year (/13), Blue (/5), Platinum (1/1)

Buy on:

2013-14 Panini Titanium Giannis Antetokounmpo RC

7. 2013-14 Panini Prizm Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card #290

As far as Panini’s chromium lines go, Prizm is the most recognizable. With a hefty presence at both the hobby and retail levels, that’s by design. While the base Rookie shouldn’t be hard to come by, the many parallels add a definite chase for completists who are so inclined.

Parallels: Prizms, Prizms Blue, Prizms Green, Prizms Red, Prizms Red White and Blue, Prizms Light Blue Die Cut (/199), Prizms Orange (/60), Prizms Purple Die Cut (/49), Prizms Gold (/10), Industry Summit (/5), Prizms Black (1/1), Prizms Black Mosaic (1/1)

2013-14 Panini Prizm Giannis Antetokounmpo RC

6. 2013-14 Timeless Treasures Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #129 Auto Jersey

Although the Timeless Treasures line as a whole evokes a sort of retro vibe, the Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card takes a more modern approach. Not only is it an autographed jersey card but the signature is on a piece of acetate. Trapped inside the card, the autograph can be seen from both the front and back.

Parallels: Rookie Jersey Autographs Prime (/49), Rookie Jersey Autographs Prime Ruby (/25), Rookie Jersey Tag Autographs (1/1)

5. 2013-14 Panini Spectra Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #120 Auto Jersey

2013-14 Panini Spectra has the shimmer and shine of Prizm and Select but with a more high-end approach. That is seen here with an autographed jersey card. That said, the combination of sticker signature and foil stands out and not in the most desirable way for many collectors. That doesn’t take away a lot from the card’s premium nature, but it helps make it a little cheaper than some of Antetokounmpo’s similar Rookie Cards.

Parallels: Rookie Jersey Autographs Light Blue (/99), Rookie Jersey Autographs Orange (/60), Gold (/10), Black (1/1)

4. 2013-14 Panini Gold Standard Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #231 Auto Jersey

The 2013-14 Panini Gold Standard Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card is by no means cheap, but it might be one of his more overlooked premium options. The signature is on-card, the jersey swatch is big, and the design is clean and modern. The only major knock against it may be that it’s not serial numbered.

Parallels: Platinum (/10), Black (1/1)

Buy on:

2013-14 Panini Gold Standard Giannis Antetokounmpo RC

3. 2013-14 Panini Flawless Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #99 /20

Flawless may be the pinnacle of Panini’s premium portfolio, but this isn’t the most valuable Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card. It’s up there, especially when there’s no autograph. But it is limited to just 20 copies (and doesn’t have a bunch of similar versions like Panini Signatures). The rarity is legitimate. It comes with a diamond embedded in it as well, something else that makes it distinct.

Parallels: Ruby (/15), Sapphire (/10), Emerald (/5), Platinum (1/1)

Buy on:

2. 2013-14 Immaculate Collection Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #131 Auto Patch /99

On-card autograph? Yes. Patch? That, too. Low print run? Just 99 copies. Popular brand? Check. The 2013-14 Immaculate Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card doesn’t come cheap and for a variety of reasons already mentioned. The look is also sleek and appropriate to the super-premium line.

2013-14 Immaculate Collection Giannis Antetokounmpo RC

1. 2013-14 Panini National Treasures Giannis Antetokounmpo RC #130 Auto Patch /99

Here we are, the most valuable Giannis Antetokounmpo Rookie Card in all the land. And by a decent margin as well. Immaculate may be popular, but National Treasures is even bigger and more established when it comes to Rookies. The print run is the same and National Treasures also has an on-card signature. The patch swatch here, though, is massive and makes for some striking cards. The brand affinity and prestige National Treasures enjoys is also a big factor.

2012-13 Exquisite Collection Rookies Giannis Antetokounmpo #R2

Giannis Antetokounmpo does have a card from a 2012-13 product. That said, it’s not his first major card to hit the market. 2012-13 Exquisite Basketball arrived in mid-November, 2013, a couple of weeks after the 2013-14 NBA season tipped off. 2013-14 Hoops, which had Antetokounmpo’s first Rookie Card, was also out by that time. Still, it’s Exquisite and the card carries a lot of clout whether it’s a pro card, college or otherwise.

2013-14 UD Black Giannis Antetokounmpo #63 Autograph /199

Although not considered quite as high-end as Exquisite, UD Black is up there. The 2013-14 UD Black Giannis Antetokounmpo highlights his Greek heritage. Not only does the card have an on-card signature but it includes acetate, creating a layered sort of look.

@John – Unless someone has a record of all 10 different ones showing up, it’d be impossible to tell. Even if there’s just one box left, it’s theoretically possible it could be in there.
