Will Ferrell MLB auctions enter final hours
By Chris Olds | Beckett Baseball Editor
When comedian Will Ferrell played for 10 MLB teams in a single day last month to raise money for cancer-fighting charities, many laughed at his historic antics in meaningless games.
Nobody is laughing at the results on the auction block so far.
More than 70 auction lots of game-used jerseys, pants, bats, shirts, socks, baseballs, lineup cards, catcher’s gear and plenty more are presently up for sale via MLB Auctions — and the sales are entering their final day with several items already topping the $1,000 mark.
Most popular right now are his game-used jerseys White Sox, Cubs, Dodgers and Giants. His San Francisco jersey presently sits at $2,010 after 40 bids.
The MLB-authenticated items are all from his Ferrell Takes the Field stunt to raise money — sales of these items will benefit Stand Up 2 Cancer and Umpires Care.
Several smaller items such as MLB-authenticated wristbands carry cheaper bids — for now — and bidding should pick up in the final hours.

He didn’t play for my team but it is going to a good cause so I still applaud what they are doing. It’s too bad he didn’t autograph any of them, that probably would have raised a lot more money.
A lot of people laughed at Will for doing this because they probably thought it was just a publicity stunt. But this was a really good thing done by a well known actor. Kudos to Will for this and raising money for the charities.
