2024-25 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Details
2024-25 Upper Deck MVP Hockey is the first set out of the gate for the new season. As always, it’s an entry-level product that emphasizes a cheap price tag than valuable hits. But that doesn’t mean that there aren’t some rarities to chase. They’re just, well, rare.
2024-25 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Checklist Overview
The base set consists of 250 cards. The first 200 make up the common shell set. The final 50, which includes rookies, are modest short prints. These combine to land every other hobby pack or 10 per box.
Parallels opt for familiar territory with:
- Silver Script – 1:5 packs, SP – 1:20 packs
- Super Script – /25
- Black Super Script – 1/1
- Printing Plates – 1/1 (SP only)
Select short prints also have Magenta Autographs (1:1,200). These are the only signed cards in the product.
Photo Variations, which stick to SP subjects, are 1:200 packs.
Releasing so early, the only rookies available in packs are late-debuting carryovers from 2023-24. That said, divisional Rookie Redemptions (1:400 packs) return that will provide some debuts after the season starts.
A new #1 Draft Pick Redemption is randomly inserted at a rate of 1:1,250 packs. The ensuing Gold parallel is significantly scarcer at 1:12,500 hobby packs.
Inserts
The 2024-25 Upper Deck MVP Hockey checklist has a handful of other insert sets that look at different aspects of the game as well as the brand’s history.
Stepping back a decade as far as designs go is 10th Anniversary (1:6 packs). These take on the layout of 2014-15 Upper Deck MVP Hockey. Gold Script (1:30 packs) and Super Script (/25) versions are also available.
Colors and Contours returns with more bright shades and serial numbering. These come in three different levels: Gold (/250), Green (/20) and Purple (/3).
Four new themes join the MVP fray.
Above the Crease (1:13 packs) is all about goalies and unique photography. Gold (1:400 packs) and Black (1/1) parallels can also be found.
It’s fun and games with Mascot Talent (1:13 packs), which boasts a design inspired by 2000-01 MVP Talent inserts. Gold (1:63 packs), Spectrum (/99), Red (/50) and Purple (/10) make up the rainbow.
Other inserts include the youth-centric It’s Their Time (1:5 packs) and Under the Scope (1:9 packs). It’s Their Time has Gold (1:160 packs), Blue (/25) and Black (1/1) parallels while Under the Scope gets Gold (1:267 packs) and Black (1/1).
