2019 Topps Stranger Things: Welcome to the Upside Down is the show’s third full trading card release. Rather than sticking to a specific season like the first two, this one is more thematic in its approach. It dives into the Upside Down with appropriately darker designs and monstrous side roads.
Sticking with the Season 1 and 2 sets, hobby boxes come with a pair of hits. One is guaranteed to be either an autograph or sketch cards. Memorabilia cards and manufactured relics are among the possibilities for the other one.
2019 Topps Stranger Things: Welcome to the Upside Down Base Set Basics
The main set features 100 cards and it’s all Upside Down themed. The checklist takes a chronological approach to how the mysterious, creepy and sometimes deadly place was discovered.
Parallels include Orange (/99), Red (/50), Purple (/25), Printing Plates (1/1) and Upside Down (1/1).
Autographs, Relics and Other Inserts
Autographs in 2019 Topps Stranger Things: Welcome to the Upside Down have a new design to fit the set’s other elements. Besides base versions, cards Mindflyer Orange (/99), Red (/50), Purple (/25), Demogorgon Blue (/10) and Upside Down (1/1) parallels are also randomly inserted.
Dual and Triple Autographs, both carrying print runs of ten copies each, make for a tougher hunt.
Relic cards with costume swatches are available in single and dual versions. Both have Purple (/25), Green (/10) and Blue (1/1) parallels. Single relics also have Red (/50).
Commemorative Button cards take over from the medallions and patches found in the previous two sets. Hobby parallels include Orange (/99), Red (/50), Purple (/25), Green (/10) and Blue (1/1).
Besides the traditional take, sketch cards also have Shaped versions. These are cut to resemble Eleven’s head with the art drawn inside.
The product has three additional insert sets, each digging a little deeper into the show. Tribute to Barb spotlights the first season character who wasn’t necessarily seen on screen a lot but has left a lasting impression.
Welcome to Hawkins takes a trip around town, highlighting some of Stranger Things‘ key locations.
Finally, there’s Evolution of Demogorgon, which shows how the creature grows up and transforms.
All three of these insert sets have Orange (/99), Red (/50), Purple (/25), Green (/10) and Blue (1/1) parallels.
