When it comes to rookie autographs in football, traditionally, Topps Chrome has lots of staying power. Even if it’s the likely last time as Panini’s NFL exclusive kicks in next season, the 2015 Topps Chrome Football Rookie Autographs are likely no different.
Featuring another massive checklist, a large percentage of which has on-card signatures, the brand is going out with what made it one of the sport’s most popular sets in the first place.
Also sticking with tradition is the fact that a handful of players appear to be short prints.
The 2015 Topps Chrome Football Rookie Autographs checklist has more than 60 players. That means that there are plenty of lesser stars to go with the Todd Gurleys, Marcus Mariotas and Jameis Winstons of the 2015 rookie class.
Similar to Contenders, they don’t necessarily need serial numbers to garner strong values. Rather, it’s the tradition that takes them higher than a lot of autographs coming out of similarly priced products.
As is standard with a lot of products, not all players appear to be available in equal quantities. Many of the top players seem to be appearing on more Refractors than the base versions. Winston, Mariota and Gurley are among them. However, some are names that aren’t so well known.
While most of the cards are hard-signed, that’s not the case for all. Some players have a mix of stickers and on-card signatures, though that’s usually split up by base versions and certain Refractors.

Topps has not released an official list of short prints. The following is a list of players who appear to have fewer than average base versions of their autographs. For a couple, we’ve yet to confirm any base versions so we’ve noted the most common Refractor parallel we’ve seen.

This is a REALLY solid release. Strong rookie class, deep auto checklist, great insert sets, much lower production than last year and the top autos are not impossible to hit. Only complaint is a few of the auto subjects already out of the league and Topps should have numbered all the refractors.
The Mariota refractor auto is numbered out of /150.
He has base versions as well, it just doesn’t appear to be many.
