It’s been a good while since we prompted the hobby audience with a Weekend Wonder to pontificate. It’s also been a good while since the NFL Lockout started baffling football fans, collectors and casual spectators.

The prompt to ponder (and actually respond to) this weekend is of course the lockout and its impact (potential or real) on the hobby.

Here are a few questions to get the ball rolling:

  1. Will the lockout affect the way you collect or how much product you buy this season?
  2. Will the lockout help or hurt the rookies in the hobby?
  3. What are your concerns about the lockout?
  4. Will you focus more on college football collectibles/cards if the lockout continues?

And … go!

It will affect my card buy and collecting. I hope to buy more and stock up on rookie cards(will they still be concidered rookie cards if they don’t play in their rookie season?). At least the prices should remain stable for the year.

I think it will hurt the rookies. They need all the playing time they can get. Simulated games and practice isn’t enough to help rookies get experience.

With the lockout, it will be a very boring winter.

I love collecting, I will continue to collect whatever card companies put out. If it is college or Pro, I will buy.

I pretty much need my fix, so I will still buy. Although I am just a base card collector, it doesn’t really hurt my wallet to begin with, so even if there is no season this year, lets hope that the 2011 season does exist, I will still collect. I need my Christian Ponder RC’s!

I might be strange, but if there’s no season, I’m done with the NFL all together. I collect the 4 major sports, but if there’s no NFL season I will not watch another NFL game, I will not buy any more of their merch, etc. I know it might seem extreme, but with the amount of money (while to them it is a trickle in the bucket) that I have spent on tickets, team merchandise, etc I have put forth, I expect more. I will still be collecting the other sports, but for the NFL, I will be done. Hello CFL! :P
