Three Of Beckett’s Top 25 SEC Impact Players Play In LSU/Mississippi State Game Saturday

Beckett Sports and CBS Sports teamed up with 247Sports and Scout to created the SEC Impact Players issue, with breakdowns of each team, coach, and a ranking of the Top 25 SEC players.

This weekend’s matchup of the LSU Tigers against the Mississippi State Bulldogs features three players in the Top 10 of those rankings. The game promises to be an intriguing one, as both teams look to open SEC play with a huge victory.

The No. 1 player in our ranking is LSU RB Derrius Guice, and he’s been proving that preseason ranking correct so far, tallying 224 yards and four TDs in two games. Meanwhile, the No. 4 ranked player OLB Arden Key has been hampered by injury, but is expected to play in Starkville on Saturday.

Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald, deemed the ninth best player in the SEC, was expected to shoulder much of the load for the Bulldogs offense, and so far he has done just that. He’s passed for 363 yards and five TDS in two games, but he will face a major step up in defensive strength when he faces the Tigers.
