Sabres-5-cards-for-hockey-day-1024x480

By Stephen Laroche | Beckett Hockey Editor

This Sunday, the first 10,000 fans entering the First Niagara Center for the clash between the Buffalo Sabres and the visiting New York Islanders are in for a special treat as Dave & Adam’s Card World and Upper Deck have partnered to offer a special six-card pack of cards featuring the hometown team.

Current Sabres players Tyler Myers, Marcus Foligno, Jhonas Enroth, Matt Moulson and Brian Gionta will be a part of this small collection and the cards utilize the same design as this year’s Upper Deck product along with a small Dave & Adam’s logo. The Moulson and Gionta cards also serve as a mini-preview for 2014-15 Upper Deck Series 2.

What is the special sixth card that fans will find in their packs? Find out after the jump.

Reinhart

The sixth card in set will be a “Young Guns” card of 2014 first round pick Sam Reinhart that has a different design than those found in packs. Considered the top prospect in the organization, he started the 2014-15 season in Buffalo before being returned to the WHL’s Kootenay Ice. He also played a major part in helping Canada win a gold medal at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

UD’s gameday giveaway cards, to me, have always been horrendously underregarded and I think at times they don’t get the chatter in the hobby they deserve. Consider how small a percentage of the cards make their way to the secondary market and you’ve got pieces that can be highly coveted in short order, especially for a top prospect like Reinhart.
