Cheap Wax Wednesday Box Breaks: 2021 Onyx Vintage Football
Football season is here! Yes, I know, the NFL season is already halfway over, but I’m just now getting into Cheap Wax Wednesday football season. We kick off with a short and sweet one.
2021 Onyx Vintage Football consists of just one pack per box. Each has four cards, two of which are on-card autographs. The checklist is fairly deep, but does include some big names. While it does include the retired Eli Manning and 2020 rookie Justin Herbert, the majority of the checklist is from the 2021 rookie class. On that list is Justin Fields, Najee Harris, Mac Jones, Trey Lance, Micah Parsons, Kyle Pitts, DeVonta Smith, and Zach Wilson.
Each autograph comes in four different colors. Blue autographs are limited to 400 or less copies, Green (50 or fewer), Red (25 or fewer), and Black (five copies).

Pack 1:
Rashawn Slater, Hunter Long, Marco Wilson Blue Autograph (limited to 400 or less) & Jaylen Waddle Blue Autograph (limited to 400 or less)
Obviously, Waddle is the best of the bunch. Wilson was a fourth round draft pick in 2021 and has been a starter at cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals. Unfortunately, both of the autographs are the most common color.
This product isn’t the typical “cheap wax” product featured here, but it does qualify since it comes in under $50. With a $45 price tag you really have to hit a big name to make this one worthwhile. I did all right with the Waddle autograph, but it certainly could have been better if I had pulled one of the big quarterbacks from the checklist.
I will be back to normal next week, with a more traditional full box of football cards.

I’ve ripped a few of these boxes and in really enjoy this product. With the hobby being… what it is, Prizm this and Optic that, these well thought out cards are a great change of pace, I love the on card autos, it’ a huge plus for me. So far I’ve ripped 4 different boxes 2021 Football & 2021 College Football 2021 College Baseball and finally 2021 Basketball.
The hits were: Football Desmond Ridder & John Metchie (BLUE) Kyle Hamilton (Blue) Leo Chentl (RED) The most disappointing was Baseball Matt McClain & Parker Messick, no idea who they are, lol finally basketball Daniel Oturu (Blue) and Trent Watford (Green). I’d buy this one again but I’m sticking to football.
