1994 Topps Stadium Club Football was split into three releases: Series 1, Series 2 and High Series. While each of the first two series feature a 270-card base checklist, the High Series checklist has just 90. The good news? All of the base cards in High Series feature players wearing throwback uniforms.

While Stadium Club was known for photo quality back in the early to mid 1990s, in football it didn’t have many fun photo choices like it does today in Stadium Club baseball releases. What it did have was borderless, full-color photography and, at times, some questionable design choices. But what do you expect? It was the ’90s.

Pack 1 highlights:

Deion Sanders x2, Troy Aikman, John Elway, Reggie White, Cris Carter, Shannon Sharpe & Jerry Rice Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

It makes sense finding two Deion cards in the same pack. e was a dual-threat, after all.

Pack 2:

Eric Metcalf, Jeff George, Warren Moon & Aaron Glenn/Deion Sanders Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Pack 3:

Eric Metcalf, Jerome Bettis, Brett Favre, Ken Norton & Ben Coates

Metcalf put together an All-Pro season in 1993, leading the league in all-purpose (rushing, receiving, and return) yards. He also had two punt return touchdowns.

Pack 4:

Tim Brown, Brett Favre, Jerome Bettis & Shannon Sharpe

Pack 5:

Tim Brown, Sterling Sharpe, Herschel Walker & Byron Morris/Emmitt Smith Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Always underrated, Tim Brown ranks seventh all-time with 1,094 receptions.

Pack 6:

Gary Anderson, Jeff George, Cris Carter, Jerry Rice & Deion Sanders Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Pack 7:

Andre Reed, Emmitt Smith & Michael Strahan

It is Strahan’s 51st birthday this week (November 21)!

Pack 8:

A trio of Niners; Ricky Watters, Steve Young & Jerry Rice

Pack 9:

Michael Strahan, Junior Seau & Derrick Alexander/Jerry Rice Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Alexander was a late first round pick of the Browns in 1994 and racked up 828 receiving yards in his rookie season.

Pack 10:

Reggie White & Brian Blades

Pack 11:

Eric Metcalf & Randall McDaniel

McDaniel was a 12-time All-Pro offensive lineman. He also caught one pass in his career, a two-yard touchdown in 2000.

Pack 12:

Dupe Jim Kellys, Dan Marino, Herschel Walker & Terance Mathis

Pack 13:

Steve Young, Warren Moon, Ricky Watters, John Randle & Jeff Burris Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Randle recorded double-digit sack totals every season between 1992 and1999. His 137.5 career sack total ranks him tenth all-time(since sacks became an official stat in 1982).

Pack 14:

Eric Metcalf, Ken Norton, Ben Coates & a Panthers Offense Redemption Card (1:24 packs)

The Panthers and Jaguars each had three redemption cards, Offense, Defense and Special Teams. If you were able to find all three for the same team, you could redeem them for a 22-card Topps Finest set of that team. There were also Complete Set Redemptions available (1:336 packs) that could be redeemed for both 22-card sets.

Pack 15:

Shannon Sharpe & Cornelius Bennett

Shannon Sharpe is still appearing on television as a co-host on FS1’s Undisputed

Pack 16:

Tim Brown, Herschel Walker & Gus Frerotte Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Pack 17:

Jerry Rice, Jeff George, Emmitt Smith & Cris Carter

Another underrated wide receiver, Carter’s 1,101 career receptions rank him sixth all-time, just ahead of Tim Brown.

Pack 18:

Double Drew Bledsoe, Rod Woodson & Ken Norton

Pack 19:

Aeneas Williams, Deion Sanders, Troy Aikman, Cris Carter, Shannon Sharpe, Reggie White & Rob Fredrickson Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Who is Rob Fredrickson? Rob was a linebacker and the Raiders’ first round draft choice in 1994.

Pack 20:

Andre Reed, Steve Young, Rod Woodson, Michael Strahan & Jim Everett

Pack 21:

Kevin Greene, Ricky Watters, Rod Woodson, Sterling Sharpe & Jerry Rice

Woodson’s 71 career interceptions are good enough for third in the history of the NFL.

Pack 22:

Sterling Sharpe, Michael Strahan, Junior Seau & Seau Bowman’s Best (1:3 packs)

Pack 23:

A pair of premier Packers; Brett Favre & Reggie White

Reggie White trails only Bruce Smith on the all-time sacks list. Smith played three more seasons than White and holds the record by just two sacks.

Pack 24:

Eric Metcalf & Jerome Bettis

Lastly, the Bettis card back. Pretty impressive that Topps gave a guy the size of Bettis a 9.3 speed rating.

Well, that is strange. While it was still an enjoyable break, I was missing some cards you would expect to find in a box. 1st Day Issue parallels are supposed to be 1:12 packs, and I didn’t find any. Also, Bowman’s Best Refractors show 1:12 pack odds. I missed out on those as well.

While missing those pulls is unfortunate, this was still a fun break. I enjoy the all-throwback jerseys. I do wish the checklist was longer, as we clearly ended up with a ton of extras. On the plus side, the small set does have lots of Hall of Fame players.
