Beckett Sports Card Hot / Cold – March 1, 2024
Welcome to another installment of Beckett Sports Card Hot/Cold where we take quick and fun look at what’s and what’s not in the worlds of sports and sports cards. Some players and products are coming into March roaring like lions. Others, not so much. They won’t even give you that soft and fuzzy feeling of a lamb’s wool.
Baseball is showing signs of life as spring training games begin. This means fans and collectors getting their first looks at Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto and others on the field in their new threads without the help of Topps’ photo magic department. It also means a new hobby season is underway as collectors continue to dig into 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball.
At the same time, there’s also 2023-24 Panini Prizm Basketball, one of the biggest releases of the hoops season. Although retail started showing up a while ago, hobby has only been out for a short time. With that comes more color, more inserts and, of course, more Victor Wembanyamas.
Caitlin Clark has left little doubt that she’s one of the best — if not the best — ever when it comes to women’s college basketball. As the records continue to fall, Clark also announced that she’s entering the WNBA Draft. That means pro Rookie Cards before long, but she’s already in several Bowman University products dating back to last year.
Connor Bedard has easily been the driving force in hockey cards this year. Next week brings 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 2 and his Young Guns Rookie Card.

Can you please send me a short list of common baseball cards that are maybe worth five or ten cents at best?
