2022 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball Is Definitely High-End

Make no doubt about it, 2022 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball is luxury-level sports cards. With eight cards, hobby boxes deliver premium hits in quantity. But with no individual card having more than 50 copies, there’s the limited aspect that’s built in as well.

2022 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball Checklist Overview

Everything in the product is a hit, including the base set. Like previous Definitive Collection installments, these take on the form of autograph relics.

Base versions have a ceiling of 50 copies. Parallels include Green (/25), Purple (/10) and five different Red one-of-ones: Jersey Button, Laundry Tag, Manufacturer Logo, MLB Silhouetted Patch Logo, and Team Logo.

Signature inserts start with Definitive Autographs. Numbered to 50 or less, the checklist for these is a broad mix of players and era. Vets, rookies and retired stars are all included. One-of-one Red parallels are also available.

Definitive Rookie Autographs offer up a repeat performance of sorts for first-year players. Base versions of the also have 50 copies with Green (/25), Purple (/10) and Red (1/1) parallels along for the ride as well.

Jumping back in time are Legendary Autograph Collection cards (/25 or less).Purple (/5 or less) and Red (1/1) are the lone parallels for these.

2022 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball has some Framed Autographs as well. Print runs are limited to 30 or less.

Multiple signatures are on both Dual Autograph Collection (/35 or less) and Definitive Trios Autographs (/25). Each of these sets has Green (/10), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1) versions as well.

Cut Signatures (1/1) appear on the checklist as well.

2022 Topps Definitive Collection Baseball Autograph Relics

Definitive Autograph Relics combine an on-card signature with a jumbo swatch. With print runs of 40 or fewer, they’re among the more common cards in the product but that’s still a relatively small number. Even with their respective Green (/10), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1) parallels, numbers don’t grow much.

Metal frames aren’t available for just standard signatures. Framed Autograph Patch Collection (/30 or less) cards are on the checklist as well.

Autograph Ultra Patch cards have big pieces of team patches, numbers and nameplates. There’s an added layer to these as collectors can attempt to put together full patches like a baseball card puzzle.

Protectors at the Plate Autograph Relics play it safe with regards to its memorabilia. Pieces on these come from protective gear like catcher’s equipment, shin guards and elbow pads. Among the rarest cards in the product, base versions have five copies or less. Red (1/1) are the only parallels.

Other signature memorabilia inserts include Dual Autographed Relic Collection (/35 or less) and Autograph Patch Book Collection (/5).

Memorabilia Cards

Living up to the overriding theme in 2022 Topps Definitive Baseball, all of the product’s memorabilia cards take a premium approach. There are no small, single-color swatches here.

Jumbo Relic Collection (/50) are just that. They come with over-sized pieces of gear. Parallels include Blue (/30), Green (/15), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1).

Helmet Collection (/50 or less) looks to a seldom used relic when it comes to baseball cards — batting helmets. Standard Purple versions are numbered to 5. One-of-one Red parallels are available in MLB Silhouetted Batter Logo, MPH, Rawlings Authentic Tag, and Rawlings Logo.

Protectors at the Plate has a strictly memorabilia version as well. Slightly more common than the autographs, base versions have 25 copies with Green (/10), Purple (/5) and Red (1/1) parallels available as well.

Definitive Patch Collection and Definitive Nameplate Collection rounds out the checklist. All cards in these sets are one-of-a-kind.
