Typically, we’d be getting ready for Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. But between supply chain issues and the ongoing pandemic, hockey cards are behind their normal schedule. But there’s a sign that things are finally getting going as the 2021-22 Upper Deck Series 1 Young Guns checklist has been unveiled.

As usual, there are 49 Rookie Cards plus one checklist. They combine to land 1:4 Series 1 packs, making them short prints like usual.

Series 1 headliners include Trevor Zegras, Cole Caufield, Tanner Jeannot and Spencer Knight.

This is only the first batch of 2021-22 Upper Deck Young Guns. More are slated for Upper Deck Series 2. There’s a good chance that’s where collectors will find current rookie points leader Lucas Raymond as well as Quinton Byfield.

Originally scheduled for last fall, 2021-22 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey is now slated for a February release.

Would be safe to assume that in addition to Byfield, Raymond and Seider, we should also see Boldy and Perfetti in Series 2.

Who is 239 Type Thompson, New Jersey Devils? i only know Tyce Thompson.
Also who is 210 Marian Student, New Jersey Devils? Do you mean Marian Studenic?

Series 1 bringing you Ottawa x4, and Buffalo x5… Two of the worst five teams in the league, which I guess tracks. I’ll save my money for Series 2 and Matt Boldy.

That has to be the weakest Young Guns checklist I’ve seen. With all the potential, UD gives us this garbage. Besides a few players, this looks like 2020-21 UD Extended.

I pre-ordered a case months ago, I don’t even want it anymore. I imagine they’ll water down Series 2 as well and save some good players for yet another Extended Series. What a joke.

3+ month delay in the release of the product and this is the YG list? No Raymond or Seider. Does Upper Deck want collectors to abandon them? So frustrating.

    Zero. Dallas. Stars.

Riley Damiani (AHL Rookie Scoring Leader)? Jacob Peterson? Riley Tufte? Adam Scheel? It might be too early for Mavrik Bourque or Wyatt Johnston, but then again last year’s Young Guns checklists were really stretching, so why not?

For 2020-21 Upper Deck used up all their good Dallas Stars in Series 1 – Joel Kiviranta, Ty Dellandrea, Thomas Harley, **Jason Robertson** & Jake Oettinger – and had none left over for Series 2 nor Extended. So, perhaps this year it’s reversed? No Stars in Series 1, so they’ll all be crammed into Series 2?
