2018 Panini Contenders Football Tweaks the Tickets

You knew 2018 Panini Contenders Football wasn’t going to change up the brand’s defining feature. But even though the Rookie Ticket Autographs aren’t going anywhere, some new chase versions are being introduced.

Hobby boxes continue to be autograph-heavy. They come with at least five signed cards, one of which has an on-card autograph.

2018 Panini Contenders Football Overview

Rookie Ticket Autographs take a deep dive into the season’s first-year class. Many of the biggest names are part of the Rookie Ticket RPS portion of the checklist, which is where collectors find on-card signatures. As with tradition, variations return with different photos.

Parallels include Playoff Ticket (/99 or less), Championship Ticket (/49 or less), Cracked Ice Ticket (/24) and Super Bowl Ticket (1/1). 2018 Panini Contenders Football has a couple of new parallels as well. Rookie Ticket Stub (/99 or less) versions have a die-cut top, mimicking what you might find on a real perforated ticket.

There are also Rookie Clear Ticket (/10) cards, which are done on acetate.

2018 means two decades have passed since the landmark 1998 Playoff Contenders release, which introduced the brand’s ticket concept. 20th Anniversary Rookie Ticket RPS cards revisit the classic design with new players and hard signatures.

Contenders to Canton also pay tribute to the brand’s past. The autograph cards feature Hall of Famers with their Contenders debuts pictured alongside their Gold Jacket moments.

Among the returning signature inserts are MVP Contenders Autographs (/49 or less) and Rookie of the Year Contenders Autographs (/99 or less). Both have Gold (/10) and Platinum (1/1) parallels. They also have unsigned versions as well.

Round Numbers Dual Autographs are also back with signatures from two players taken in the same round of the NFL draft.

Golden Tickets (1/1) and Silver Tickets (/2) bring the ticket theme to metal. Golden Tickets are printed on 14K gold.
