The hobby landscape has a lot of “buyback” products now — releases that bring together cards from the past. These mix the potential for big things with the allure the intrigue of the unknown. Leaf’s Best of line was one of the first to adopt the concept. And it’s back with 2018 Leaf Best of Basketball.

Each box is anchored by a premium repurchased card. Rookies, autographs, memorabilia cards, inserts — they’re all possible. Some are graded.

Redemptions are randomly inserted for unopened boxes or memorabilia pieces that wouldn’t otherwise be able to fit in the box.

Boxes come with a second card as well, an exclusive Best of Basketball Originals insert. The 18-card checklist is a mix of past, present and future. Bill Russell, Larry Bird and Shaquille O’Neal are among the Hall of Famers. Stephen Curry and Kyle Kuzma bring some veteran flavor. As for a possible future, the 2018 Leaf Best of Basketball Originals also includes high schooler LaMelo Ball, Lonzo’s brother.

    Dear Ryan,

Please contact me regarding Basketball autographs.

I am 69 years old and have collected since 1959.

For the first 3 years the SD Clippers were in town I work on game nights on the stats crew.
    Thanks,
    Roger Christensen
