The price of perfection is $756,000.

The New York Yankees uniform worn by Don Larsen during his perfect game in the 1956 World Series sold at auction Wednesday evening through Steiner Sports, collecting 22 bids and ending at $630,000. With a 20 percent buyer’s premium, the transaction totals $756,000.

Larsen opted to sell the uniform to pay for his two grandsons’ college educations.

“It’s for them. It’s for their education,” Larsen told Beckett Media in June. “If there’s anything left after that, maybe I’ll take the family on a little trip.”

While It’s still hard for me to fathom how this is for sell I hope it is donated to the hall of fame in Don Larson’s honor.
I have a Topps Don Larson Auto commemorating the event in history. It is a favorite of mine just the amazing feat in it’s self .I’m also wonder what it says about all of us and why is it we can’t afford to educate our Children and ourselves.
What a special gift Mr Larson has given to his grandsons I hope that as my 2 kids turn 18 and graduate high school this year how I can afford to help them thru college as well.
Perhaps we need people in Washington to keep moving forward and do for the country what Don Larson has done for his grandsons.
    Thanks Beckett
    Tom
