Adam Greenberg to appear in 2013 Topps set

He got one more at-bat, now he gets one more baseball card.
Topps announced on Tuesday night that Adam Greenberg will be included in its 2013 baseball card set.
“Adam Greenberg … embodies dedication, hard work and persistence,” Topps VP Mark Sapir said in making the announcement. “[We’re] proud he will be part of 2013 Topps baseball!”
Greenberg, who was hit in the head by the first pitch he ever faced in the major leagues seven years ago, pinch-hit during Tuesday night’s Florida Marlins game, striking out on three pitches against New York Mets ace and 20-game winner R.A. Dickey.
Greenberg received a one-day contract from the club after his story was championed by documentarian Matt Liston, with an online campaign at OneAtBat.com, supporting the former Cub drawing the attention of the last-place Marlins’ front office.
You see, while he had only one brief appearance on a big-league field, he’s actually got a total of 32 baseball cards valued at more than $240, according to the Beckett.com database and Online Price Guide. (Click here for a Greenberg checklist.)

it was a good story. im betting that his topps card is gonna be a short print. i like the design of the cards for 2013. very nice.

I don’t like the comparison to Field of Dreams some news sources have been bringing up. In that movie the doc steps away from baseball stating the tragedy is if he would have never been a doctor.
Getting the guy one at bat misses that point. The message should be what he does next. What you do with the hand delt, not someone slidding an extra Ace back in your hand.
All that said good for the kid, I wish him nothing but the best!
if i were R.A. Dickey i would’ve hit him, in the back not in the head. Dickey has overcome some huge obstacles in his personal life and has worked his butt off to earm a roster spot in the major leagues and this greenberg guy gets a “charity” at bat just because some movie director begged every team to give him one at bat??! Sorry no free rides here. Every major leaguer or any professional athlete who gave their blood, sweat, and tears to get where they are should be insulted by this greenberg story.

Personally I think it is pretty cool. I don’t think it is a charity at-bat I mean, he was a big leaguer and probably would have continued as one if not for getting hit in the head. Anyway, is there any word on whether it is a base card or a short print? By getting on the field, he can achieve closure and move forward in his life. It is similar to Eric LeGrand being signed by the Bucs. I wish him the best going forward.
Uggh…there goes Topps trying to cash in again. Mark Sapir is full of malarkey. They saw a story and another way to sell baseball cards. Anyone who believes that they included him bc of his hard work, persistence, etc. I have a bridge to sell you.
PS…I still HATE the 2013 design. Although unlikely, Im still hoping Topps changes before it goes to presses. That home plate above the name is ugly and confusing. Looks like a mis-placed accent

How can you fault Topps for trying to cash in and sell cards. They are a card company, that’s what they do, sell cards.
First, Alex, you’re a jerk. But that goes without saying.
Second, what actually bothers me about the card is the RC logo on it, especially because TOPPS made his RC cards back in 2004. Come on Topps, if you are going to use the RC logo, use it right. Just because he carries a “rookie” designation on the field doesn’t mean he is still a RC on cardboard.
