Yogi Berra 1953 World Series Ring Fetches Almost $160,000

Over the course of his storied career, Yogi Berra earned a lot of World Series rings. Ten to be exact. One from 1953 sold for $159,720 to lead Steiner Sports Memorabilia’s Fall Classic Auction.
In total, the nearly 2,000-lot auction brought in more than $1.2 million.
According to his family, the 1953 World Series ring was only one Berra wore after winning five consecutive titles with the Yankees.
The ring was one of more than 80 pieces from the Berra Collection that was part of the sale. Other pieces included his 1972 Hall of Fame induction ring ($90,000), his Cooperstown presentation plaque ($36,300), Hall of Fame induction lapel pin ($14,031.60) and a photo-matched game-worn jersey from Game One of the 1961 World Series ($71,874). In total, the Berra Collection tallied $493,855.
It wasn’t just Yogi Berra memorabilia that starred in the sale. Items from several sports and stars were represented. This included several pieces from Don Larsen, Otis Anderson’s Super Bowl XXV Vince Lombardi trophy ($60,000), Mike Keenan’s 1994 Stanley Cup trophy ($20,724) and a pair of signed Michael Jordan game-used Air Jordan IV sneakers ($21,013).
A ball signed by Lou Gehrig and inscribed to the Best Man at his wedding hit $27,584 while an early Babe Ruth De Beers ball sold for $14,152.80.
