Justin Herbert Rookie Card Rankings
Any Justin Herbert Rookie Card is going to garner attention. That said, with nearly 40 to choose from between various 2020 base sets, values can vary from a few dollars to tens of thousands.
Herbert is one of several quarterbacks from a deep 2020 draft class that also includes Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts. Although the third QB taken, Herbert has been the most consistent so far early in his career. That means that a lot of what collectors are putting into Justin Herbert Rookie Cards is in the expectations of what he and the Chargers could do in the years ahead.
As far as the types of cards that are out there, it’s varied. On the one end of the spectrum are the marquee RCs like National Treasures, Immaculate and Contenders. These typically have at least one key attribute like an autograph or extremely low print run. Moving into the mid-range with sets, collectors can find more popular brands and some cards with lower but still attainable production numbers. Most of the most affordable Justin Herbert Rookie Cards come from widely available sets that were available at both hobby and retail.
At all levels, production numbers are a factor but not the only one. Brand is key. That’s why sets like Prizm are so popular and command strong prices, even while being easy to find. On the flip side, some newer brands like XR can be tough to find but don’t cost a lot because the set hasn’t caught on with the masses.
Like any player, collectors should be looking for Justin Herbert RCs that appeal them and fit in their budget. There’s certainly lots to choose from.
