Think of 2023 Topps Finest Baseball as the season’s jazz ensemble when it comes to chrome. While Topps Chrome and Bowman Chrome typically take a retread route of recreating and extending existing sets from the same year, Finest follows its own beat with lots of color and bold designs.

Packaged as a pair of six-pack mini boxes, full hobby boxes deliver a pair of autographs. Refractors and a handful of inserts can also be expected.

2023 Topps Finest Baseball Checklist Overview

There’s a couple of levels to the 125-card base set. The first 100 make up the main shell set, highlighting veterans and rookies from across MLB.

Refractors? The checklist has lots of them:

  • Refractors – 1:3 packs
  • Sky Blue Refractors – /300
  • Blue/Aqua Vapor Refractors – /250
  • Purple Refractors – /250
  • Aqua Refractors – /199
  • Aqua Shimmer Refractors – /25
  • Blue Refractors – /150
  • Green Speckle Refractors – /125
  • Green Refractors – /99
  • Lava Green Refractors – /99
  • Rose Gold Refractors – /75
  • Gold Refractors – /50
  • Orange Refractors – /25
  • Red/Black Vapor Refractors – /10
  • Red Refractors – /5
  • Purple/Pink Vapor Refractors – /3
  • Superfractors – 1/1

The final 25 cards make up the Extended Base Set. Available in shorter supply, they also have a smaller parallel rainbow that’s limited to just Gold Refractors (/50), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).

Autographs and Other Inserts

Finest Rookie Design Variations (1:24 packs) offer up a different look for key first-year players. The layout on these would fit right in with Finest sets from the late 1990s and early ’00s. Refractors (/99), Gold Refractors (/50), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1) are also available for these.

World’s Finest (1:4 packs) draws its inspiration from a 2000-01 Topps Finest Basketball insert set. This time around, there’s more of a change than just sports. Here, the set gets specific, commemorating the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Finest Headliners (1:6 packs) and Finest Rivalries Die-Cuts (1:48 packs) are among the other insert sets.

All three have a similar mix of Gold Refractor (/50), Red Refractor (/5) and Superfractor (1/1) parallels. Select World’s Finest and Finest Headliners cards also have limited autograph versions with additional Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).

Finest Rivalries has dual autographs as well. These have just 10 copies each.

Diamond Finest cards are extremely scarce with just five copies each plus one-of-one Superfractor parallels.

Most of the signatures in 2023 Topps Finest Baseball fall under one of two umbrellas. Finest Autographs carry a similar design as the base set. Finest Rookie Variations Autographs adapt the similar inserts.

Both have mirroring parallels:

  • Blue Refractors – /150
  • Green Refractors – /99
  • Green Wave Refractors – /99
  • Gold Refractors – /50
  • Gold Wave Refractors – /50
  • Orange Refractors – /25
  • Orange Wave Refractors – /25
  • Red Refractors – /5
  • Red Wave Refractors – /5
  • Superfractors – 1/1

Finest Moments return, combining signatures with memorable highlights. The modest parallel lineup for these include Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).

A Finest Mystery Redemption (/99) features a surprise player and signature.

Finally, Finest Originals Buyback Autographs take old cards from the brand’s past and add players’ penmanship.
