Old is new once again with 2023 Topps Archives Signature Series Baseball Active Player Edition. At its most basic, the product offers a buyback autograph from a current MLB player per box. That is an original card from a Topps-produced product from the past that now has the addition of an on-card autograph.
Another difference from the original card is the addition of a gold stamp indicating not only that it’s from Archives Signature Series and, therefore, authenticated by Topps, but the year as well. Due to the nature of the product, sometimes original cards can reappear in other years of the buyback line.
Cards come serial numbered. Typically, this means low print runs for individual cards. However, players usually sign a mix of cards so the overall number can be misleading. It’s possible for some to sign lots of different cards and have multiple one-of-ones because of it.
Multi-signature cards are scarce, but they are part of 2023 Topps Archive Signature Series. Dual Autographs are 1:427 packs while Triple Autographs are 1:1,212.
This is also a product where a full checklist of the different cards included in the product likely won’t be known. Topps typically does release a list of signers, though.
