NBA Finals bring out superstar prices
The NBA Finals are quickly approaching, and the basketball market has been ramping up for a classic match-up between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Many story lines are swirling around including this being the first Finals appearance since 1975 for the Warriors, as well as LeBron James coming home and potentially leading the Cavs to their first NBA championship in franchise history.
Panini America has been releasing one-of-a-kind products like Immaculate Collection and Spectra just in time for this epic final series. With the news of Stephen Curry winning the leagues Most Valuable Player award, he has taken over the basketball market with his numerous autographs and memorabilia key cards selling for top dollar. In the latest issue of Beckett Basketball, six of his key cards appeared on the Hot List. Compare that to James with only one card along with James Harden, the man he beat in the Western Conference Finals, with only two. Curry has taken the hobby by storm and continues to dominate in prices and interest. Click here to view a list of pricing for the Golden State Warriors on the Online Price Guide. Here’s a look at his prices within recently released products:
2014-15 Immaculate Collection Premium Autograph Patches #52 (#’d/25) – $400-$600

On the other side, the Cavaliers have a talented squad full of stars like Iman Shumpert, Kyrie Irving and J.R. Smith, alongside arguably the greatest player ever, James. Although he led this team far past expectations, they are still predicted to lose to the Splash Brothers and the Warriors. Even though they are coming in a six-point underdog, James has shown his value on and off the court with his leadership, and with a healthy Irving, they can take the Warriors to the brink of elimination with a barrage of 3-pointers and hard-nosed defense. LeBron and Co. have been showcased in recently released products and their prices are creeping up in value and should exceed their book value if they ultimately bring home a title to Cleveland.
