Panini America is putting out a super promotion with the big game less than a week away.

Panini gathered some of Super Bowl history’s greatest athletes to sign for an exclusive online promo. Collectors who purchase a football hobby or retail box with an MSRP of $60 or greater from its online shop will receive one Super Bowl XLVII Black Box.

Yes, a black box readily available to collectors.

Each black box will contain one signed card with numbering no greater than 25. Cards can include signed memorabilia cards from 2012 NFL rookies or autographs from some of the greats of the game including Emmitt Smith, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Peyton Manning, Phil Simms, Larry Csonka and more.

Collectors can purchase as many boxes with an MSRP of $60 or more as they want. They will get a Super Bowl XLVII Black Box for each one while supplies last.

As of 1pm EST only 7 products out of 20 are in stock, and the prices for the boxes are much higher than in the hobby shops. Looks like they are trying to make their money for their “promotion.” It’s an absolute waste.

Jeff: As a company, their motive is to sell product. The autograph bonuses are there to help sell product. That’s it — nobody is forcing anyone to buy.

Nice promotion, I just wish that they had more boxes in stock, or made it one bonus Black box for every $60 spent.

I don’t mind these promotions (especially if I was planning on buying the product anyway). They’re designed to blow out product that they probably have a bunch of. Plus, with the Super Bowl coming, I’d think football card sales will start tailing off soon. I do agree with above in that it would be better if it was one black box per every $60 spent (more or less similar to what they do for National and Black Friday packs-the higher the box price, the more packs).
