Topps confirms hat variations in 2010 Topps 206
Anyone who has opened a box of the new 2010 Topps 206 baseball cards likely noticed a few bald spots, shaved heads and messy haircuts on the base cards.
It was on purpose.
As a nod to the original T206 cards from 1909-11, the company’s newest version of the set — which officially arrives in hobby shops today — features an entire base set lacking New Era’s finest headwear.
Well, except for the variation cards. The 50 short-printed cards found in the set (1:4 packs) are wearing caps or helmets in the photos on cards that actually do not feature card numbers.
