Shonn Greene, Ramses Barden Shine During Autograph Appearance
Big Apple-based hobby shop American Legends on Tuesday hosted 2009 NFL rookies Shonn Greene (Jets) and Ramses Barden (Giants) during a free one-hour signing in Scarsdale, N.Y.
Green and Barden interacted with more than 150 American Legends customers, signing footballs, photos, mini helmets and gladly posing for photo opportunities.
“We could not have asked for a better event,” said Donna Rubin, who owns American Legends with husband Mark. “Our cusotmers were excited to meet these rookies and talk about the upcoming season.
“The players seem very ready to start the season. We’re anxious to see how both Barden and Greene do this year and are rooting for them to have successful rookie campaigns.”
The appearance — sponsored by Players Inc, the marketing arm of the NFL Players Association — marked the third consecutive year that Players Inc and American Legends have provided New York-based NFL signers for fans in the area.
Last year the store hosted Vernon Gholston (Jets) and Kenny Phillips (Giants). In 2007, the Jets’ Darrelle Revis and the Giants’ Aaron Ross stopped by.
“Players Inc is so gracious in providing us with the draft picks from our local teams so we are able to get our customers revved up for football season by meeting these athletes and getting their autographs for free,” Rubin said. “NFL Players help us give back to our customers and our customers anxiously await the end of summer to see who we’re going to be bringing in. We cannot thank NFL Players enough.”
