McFarlane Toys has announced a pair of forthcoming items that should get the baseball fans and toy collectors buzzing.

First, baseball Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn will be signing 100 figure bases that will be included with new chase figures in the company’s SportsPicks Cooperstown 7 lineup.

Secondly, McFarlane is launching a new line of articulated action figures — pieces that promise more than 20 moving parts on a 4-inch figure.

The first series of Playmakers will arrive next spring with 12 MLB players on the initial offering — and each toy will have a batting and fielding version.

They are:

Alex Rodriguez — New York Yankees
Dustin Pedroia — Boston Red Sox
Albert Pujols — St. Louis Cardinals
Derek Jeter — New York Yankees
Manny Ramirez — Los Angeles Dodgers
Ichiro Suzuki — Seattle Mariners
Ryan Howard — Philadelphia Phillies
Chipper Jones — Atlanta Braves
David Ortiz — Boston Red Sox
Josh Beckett — Boston Red Sox
David Wright — New York Mets
Tim Lincecum — San Francisco Giants

Try being an Oakland A’s fan… they’re gone by the time they’re good (if they aren’t ignored).

Oakland has a baseball team? I thought only New York, Boston and Los Angeles had teams…you must be mistaken.

you wasted two statues when you put Yankees in the Playmakers.Money bought another World Series. Phillies should have won with better umps.
