2016 Topps Walking Dead Season 5 Trading Cards Checklist and Details
2016 Topps Walking Dead Season 5 trading cards mark the biggest licensing change on this side of the hobby in some time. For the past five years, Cryptozoic has been making cards for the show. It was one of their earliest licenses. But this set marks a new beginning of sorts for Rick, Darryl, Carol and company.
Similar to a lot of recent Star Wars and Doctor Who sets from Topps, each box of 2016 Topps Walking Dead Season 5 has a pair of premium inserts from a list that includes autographs, costume and sketch cards.
The base set has 100 cards covering the entire fifth season. This is a departure from the season three and four sets from Cryptozoic that broke them both up into two separate releases. Parallels come in Rust (/99), Mud (/50), Mold (/25), Sepia (/10) and Blood (1/1).
Three basic insert sets, Walkers, Character Profiles and Locations, flesh things out further for 2016 Topps Walking Dead Season 5.
As for autographs, they come in a few different versions and combinations. Basic signed cards include several levels of parallels. There are also dual and triple autographs. Some actors also added a limited number of inscriptions.
The autographs checklist include Norman Reedus (Daryl), Melissa McBride (Carol), Steven Yuen (Glenn), Michael Cudlitz (Abraham), David Morrissey (The Governor) and Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese). There’s also Chandler Riggs (Carl), who hasn’t signed cards since Cryptozoic’s Season 1 set several years ago.
Andrew Lincoln (Rick), Dana Gurira (Michonne) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie) are among those not included on the autograph checklist.
Relic cards have costume swatches embedded in them. These also have parallels.
Topps is going all in with The Walking Dead. In addition to making physical cards, they’re also launched The Walking Dead Card Trader. Similar to Star Wars Card Trader, Bunt and their other apps, it offers an ever-expanding assortment of digital trading cards. This could also prove to be Topps’ biggest entertainment acquisition in some time. Not only does the show continue to be a ratings juggernaut but its fanbase has made Walking Dead merchandise and collectibles a lucrative market.

When you buy a hobby usually one of the special cards is an autograph but i get 2 relic card. A box cost a good piece of money that should be worth it.
Bought a few hobby boxes of Season 5 over the last month. Made some cool pulls off the packs from there. Mainly were relic patches, but got a Blood Parallel autograph (card 1/1) of Katelyn Nacon who plays Enid! Very nice!
