Panini prepares Tim Tebow’s first Patriots card

Tim Tebow signed with a new team just a couple of days ago. That gave Panini America enough time to ready his first card as a member of the New England Patriots.
Tebow’s first New England card will appear in 2013 Panini Rookie & Stars, which is scheduled for an August 21 release.
“Whenever you have a player with the level of popularity Tim has, and that player moves to a new team, it reinvigorates the collectibility of that player,” said Jason Howarth, Panini America’s Vice President of Marketing on the company’s blog. “Fans of that player — and football fans in general — want to acquire the first trading cards of that player in his new uniform. Panini is excited to continue to deliver to Tim Tebow fans the very best football trading cards out there.”

The brand is called “Rookies & Stars,” but the player depicted is neither a rookie nor a star. Ironic, huh?
so is that a real photo or a completely fabricated shot (aka photoshopped)..
Not sure what I’ll be more annoyed with…ripping open a pack and getting a Leon Sandcastle card or roping a pack and getting a Tebow card
Anthony c if you have to ask if its photoshopped then obviously you are not a football fan.. When would tebow have a chance to be in full patriots gear!?! And it is clearly photoshopped but sine you had to ask that prob made panni feel good!
randy, you’re right.. i’m not a football fan and despite that, i obviously know it was highly unlikely they would have had a chance to get him in a photoshoot with full gear on.. clearly it’s a bit of a rhetorical question smart guy..
my point is, it’s stupid to produce fake images just for the sake of being ‘first’ to produce a card that nobody cares about.. lame lame lame.. i know everyone does it, but this is for the wrong reasons.. as consumers, should we encourage card companies to phone it in when producing cards? i want real action images.. just go out and get one properly.. thanks for your opinion though randy.. you’re the best!

It’s not just football. I don’t get why you guys are attacking me as a fan of the hobby. It doesn’t have to do with a specific sport or how big a football fan you are. Why do you guys condone a virtually photoshopped image? Soon it’ll be an entire set made up of mostly fake action scenes/settings. Card companies are already phoning it in with sticker autos. Soon they won’t have to send out anybody to take any photos. Just take a pic of some generic guy and photo shop the face and image of the player. You guys clearly don’t get it. Just keep on lappin this crap up. BTW, I am a smart guy! Thanks!!
