As an example, I have an old 1989 Topps Traded Ken Griffey Jr. RC that I figure has been graded enough for a decent sample size. The top 13.2% got a PSA 10. The top .2% got a BGS 10 and the top 18.9% got a BGS 9.5 or better. If this is indicative of all cards, you could assume that it is FAR easier to get a PSA 10 than a BGS 10 (not even close), but easier to get a BGS 9.5 than a PSA 10.

And with your example the PSA 10 Griffeys sell for 12.50-17 while the BGS 9.5's bring 15-20.

The difference between a BGS 10 and a PSA 10 is HUGE. PSA is a Gem Mint card. Given it is Gem Mint it the equivalent of a BGS 9.5. But with all the problems PSA is having right now. I have not invested into any PSA graded cards. Doc is no longer doing their vintage. SO I have walked away from PSA.

BGS is the leader in grading. As the others have said. A BGS graded rookie usually fetches about 2x that of a PSA equivalent. Now a BGS 10 usually commands a hefty bounty. Beckett does not give out a 10 that often. When I find BGS 10 I try to get a rookie of each.

Heck if you believe PSA 10's are BGS 10's. I can sell you my vintage stuff that is a PSA 10 that was graded by DOC when he consulted for PSA. Let me know

I own some PSA 10's that might not get a BGS 9.....

I also own some BGS 10/10's, so I know the difference.

The grade is only as good as the grader!

Before a BGS 10 can be assigned, doesn't it have to be run by a supervisor or something? I might have dreamed that, so please correct or confirm me.
