Is it me or is Topps Five Star..........

RE: Is it me or is Topps Five Star..........
I love it how guys like to rub it in your face of what you COULD have gotten. I'm sure that makes you feel much better. This is a sad fact of our hobby. It's just too expensive to bust product and hope to get what you want or a solid return. Unless you have the extra money to roll the dice and have a little fun, you're better off just buying cards you really want. Otherwise you're playing at the Topps casino and the house always has the edge.

I think if you don't have it in your budget to absorb a $500 loss on a skunk box then you probably shouldn't be buying any Five Star. Not every product is meant for every consumer. I've accepted the fact that even Finest is out of my range.

I don't have a problem with Five Star since it's soooo much higher than everything else. It's the redundancy of stuff like Triple Threads, Tribute and Tier One that bothers me. They should make 1 single release for each price point so people aren't compelled to open box after box just to get that stale feeling of regret.

Its not about having the money, its about the crap that is in a box for $550. This is a $110 product at best., Who the hell do they think they are charging $550?

There seems to be enough successful box breaks that people are shelling out the cash for it. Not everyone can be a winner. And, again, if you can't just shrug off the bad boxes then you shouldn't be buying this. Take that $550 and buy a few boxes of one of the other 'high-end' products.

It's like the lottery. There's a lot of dud scratch off tickets that make the $10k winner possible. I agree with you though, a hundred bucks on a $500+ purchase is blood-boiling. Topps ought to take extra care collating these high-end boxes to avoid the feeling of being totally ripped off.

It doesn't quite work that way... Topps doesn't have to collect money to finance the winnings. All they have to do is crank up the printing presses and every revolution spits out 132 cards.

It really does... I ran one of those printing presses for more than 40 years.

The price of 2013 Five Star boxes is plummeting. I've seen some group break sites selling spots for under cost just to get rid of it. Looks like Topps overprinted this crap just like they did with Tier 1 this year.
