A game for the ages!

I thought the announcer was going to blow his larynx out when Adams scored the tying TD. The unbiased announcer on Monday Night Football...right.

RJ...you forgot the two obvious holds by the offensive line on the same play when the Packers had the ball during the drive to the winning FG and Rodgers had time to throw the ball downfield to a wide open receiver.

But, the confirming moment that the 49ers were going to lose is when they had the lead and the 49er QB had no defensive player to his left on 3rd down and he ran to the right, straight into Clay Matthews and fell down. And they showed the deadpan face of the 49er coach on the sideline as if he wasn't the least bit upset at that play. Do we really think the NFL is 100% unscripted??!
The holds are one thing ... they are taught to do it on every play, so the refs either have to call it on every single play or let it go, which they do.

And yeah, I did think it was odd that the 49ers were running the ball right up the gut with no problem for most of the second half and then went to a pass/take the sack only offense in the last two minutes.

I guess if they can teach wide receivers to act like a fistful of a jersey can completely stop you from running your route to get the holding call, then they should teach defensive linemen to act like they are tackled by a handful of jersey to get the call.

After all, it took years for the NBA to address the flop...so maybe teams get away with it on the defensive side for a change.

The sad part was it was sooooo obvious ... it took a full 3 seconds after he was sacked for the flag to come in.

As soon as he went down I said to my son, "hold on, check this out," because I absolutely KNEW it was coming.

The refs were like, "OK, crap, he got sacked, we can't let the clock keep running and have it be fourth down on their own end of the field, so let's come up with 'illegal contact' ... that will give them an automatic first and stop the clock."

Meaning, had he completed a pass or they had run for a first down, the flag would have never come out.

It's almost like when you're playing a board game with one of your kids and they land on "lose a turn" or whatever, and you let them have a do-over.

Favoritism has been a big problem in sports for years, but they were always subjective, like figure skating, diving, gymnastics...stuff like that. It is an outright shame that real sports are being invaded by it!

3rd and 15, 40 seconds left, Packers driving, score tied 30-30.

Rodgers is sacked!

Wait for it ...

Wait for it ...

(You actually did have to wait about 2 seconds for it, because the refs needed time to come up with something to keep the drive alive ...)

FLAG! On the 49ers!

Grievous illegal contact by Richard Sherman, he damn near decapitated that poor Packers receiver when his forearm brushed the side of the uniform!

Two plays later ... Crosby nails the game winning field goal!

Rodgers has done it again, folks, he is clearly the GOAT!!!

(Despite having only one Super Bowl to his credit, despite having more help from the officials than any other player in the history of professional sports!)

Come on man, even as a Packers fan you have to admit he gets unreal special treatment.
You obviously haven't watched Brady :p I won't deny Rodgers has benefited at times from refs, they used to give him a pass with the hard count more than other quarterbacks. Up until this year he wasn't given the benefit of calls on sacks. In fact, a facemask call that was missed is why the cardinals faced the steelers for the first Super Bowl and not the packers.

I don't think the league is rigged. Some teams seem to get away with more, and the high profile quarterbacks definitely get preferential treatment. It isn't just Rodgers. I don't like it for any of them. Technically the contact Sherman made was illegal. However, in my view, it should've been a no call. Penalties aren't supposed to decide the outcome of a game, especially the ticky tack ones. However, try explaining that to Matthews on his roughing the passer calls that cost us two games.

That is actually the definition of rigged.

As for Matthews, I'm actually a big fan of his (USC guy) ... but that's different, it's just a bad rule.

And, remember, the reason that rule was created ... wait for it ... was to protect Aaron.

So when McCarthy was blowing a gasket in protest the second time against Clay, I was laughing my a-- off, because I was like, you moron, do you know why that rule was put in place?

Like, nobody on defense in the NFL can actually play defense anymore because of Aaron?

All of this goes back to my original point.

The Lions should have beat the 49ers this year, but a near pick-6 which would have set up first and goal for Detroit late in the fourth was negated by a holding call on the opposite side of the field 30 yards away from the play.

They would have never called that against Green Bay, because it would have set up another chance for Aaron to be the hero again.

They're under the mistaken impression that basically anybody but Green Bay fans actually gives a crap about him, which we don't.

And hey, let's be honest ... Brady, five Super Bowl wins. So if anybody "should" get more breaks from the refs, it's him, not some vastly overrated and extremely disproportionately arrogant puke who has actually won fewer Super Bowls than Eli Manning and just as many as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson.

But, it's my fault ... I told myself I wasn't going to subject myself to another State Farm Special and wasn't going to watch, but I was intrigued at how fast the 49ers started and thought they might be able to overcome the inevitable gifting by the zebras.

Here's the deal...the announcers said that Aaron Rodgers is THE best quarterback in the NFL right now, and hinted that the only reason the Packers don't go to the Super Bowl every year is because of the receivers.

Okay, you got to be kidding?! So, if Minnesota had a running back like Adrian again, if the Steelers had the Iron Curtain again, if the Bears had their defense again, if the Cowboys were once again America's team...

Wow. Every year the Packers get a game on Monday Night, Sunday Night, and Thursday Night football. Why? Because the NFL has chosen this team to shove down our throats and they want them to win.

It used to be different with Brett Favre, I actually always liked watching him play the Lions.

We would win some, we would lose some, but he was always smiling and looking like he enjoyed playing the game.

Guys like Robert Porcher would sack him, and they'd both get up from the pile smiling and slapping each other on the helmet - mutual respect.

It made the game ... wait for it ... fun and entertaining.

He wouldn't be scowling and berating his teammates and looking for a flag every time the other team made a play.

Put it this way ... we all know Favre took a dive to help Michael Strahan break the single season sack record.

Honestly, could you ever in a million years see Rodgers doing that for someone else?

That's the difference.

Favre should never have taken the dive! Make him earn it!
Lucky for you guys, Rodgers career is slowly coming to an end, so you won't have to put up with him much longer. The vikings and lions both have teams capable of beating the packers, so you may not even need to watch him in the playoffs!

I guess I think of myself as pretty impartial thanks to the fantasy football world. I like the Packers, but fantasy has given me reasons to cheer for many non-packers. Everyone will have their opinion on Rodgers. Is he a selfish, socialist, elitist, jerk? He's shown enough that one could argue yes. Can he do things on the field that other Quarterbacks can't? Yes. Has he dragged inept teams kicking and screaming to the playoffs year after year? Yes. Were those teams good enough to win a SB? Not since Woodson and Nick Collins were on the team. So favoritism doesn't buy him SBs like it does Brady. Even Rodgers doesn't like the rule that they made about landing on the QB. He made it clear in an interview. I agree defenses are set up for failure today, and I hate it. It sounds like there's as much hate amongst some for Rodgers, as I feel for Brady. So I can't fault you lol. Packers are going to get stomped this year, so enjoy it Smile

Any player that gets too much attention and/or credit for a win is dead to me. I like TEAM sports for a reason
