Kyrie Irving cards, trend or perpetual?
#21

RE: Kyrie Irving cards, trend or perpetual?
You have to remember that he just returned from a long injury. People are seeing how good he is for the first time in a while. They will eventually even out somewhere. Im guessing they will be $80-$200 for most of his autos this time next year. Just look at Blakes cards, you couldn't get an auto for less than $150 a couple seasons ago. Now they can be had for around $80 and up. Same with Curry several years ago and so on. Happens every year. People just want things so they can say they have it. and they spend stupidly to do it. Kyrie is one amazing player, so who really knows what "might" happen.

Lin and Griffin were both inflated at points and there cards have since cooled....I never thought either of them was going to win an MVP.

When you compare to the likes of MVP canadianism like Kobe and Lebron types Kyrie Irving fits the bill if he stays healthy. Not a lot of holes in his game and he is just getting started with his NBA career.

When you ask if Irving's stuff will be sustainable...pending good health...I say, YES!

Thanks I appreciate your input, those are my feelings. I agree 100% that he is a better all around player than Griffin or Lin.

Has anyone seen what the Kyrie Elite rookie /599 has sold for on the Bay in the last few days? If not just check out the completed listing. Luckily, I pulled mine because I really couldn't see myself coughing up that kind of bread for a non-auto card.

Kyrie is a very talented player but it's not like he's the second coming. His hype is nothing like Lin's. Lin came out of nowhere. Kyrie had hype last year when people felt that he should have been in last years all star game. It built up more during his play against the Olympic team. The main reason that collectors are focusing on his stuff right now is because it wasn't available last year (plus he made the all star team this year). Vince Carter was proven to be soft (Kidd even called him out). McGrady had a bad back that hurt his growth. Both have admitted at one point or another that they were lazy (bad work ethic). You have to also remember that they are related (cousins).

No one should compare his stuff with Jordan, Kobe nor LeBron. They are the exception to collecting Basketball. Their are very few players in any sport that can command the type of money those players can. All of the greats stuff has dropped.

EVERY players cards drop in price. Jordan's stuff has done it plenty of times. LeBron and Kobe (remember the rape charges) have done so as well. Someone else mentioned this previously, but I think that his stuff will die down some, but it will reach a comfort level.
I collect LeBron, Jordan, Kobe and anything that catches my eye.

So I am amazed.... one of Kyries new Elite RCs #ed /599 is selling for over $100...... I have been trying to pick one of these up since they came out but told myself I would not pay more than $50 for one.... I'm starting to think I'm going to be waiting for a good while on that.

My Kyrie/Grant Hill Elite Passing the Torch auto /25 went for $478. I'm stoked obviously, but I even think that's pretty high to pay. First one went for $710. Insane

Yeah, I was watching your auction since it was listed. Before I knew it was yours lol. That was definitely a nice number you ended up with. It would have looked perfect in my Clippers/Cleveland collection. Maybe someday.
