I have the complete promo set for Flopps. Wasn't aware there were other cards like the Porker. I love it when I learn new things.

A lot of people don't know about the Flopps cards, since Beckett doesn't list the players or teams who the cards spoof. So a lot of collectors don't know about them. However in those that do know about them usually only know about the 5 promo cards. Very few people know about the unreleased cards, and they rarely show up for sale.
One of the things I wanted to do with this thread is to show off cards that a lot of collector's have either forgotten about or never knew about.

So far the Flopps cards are the oddest ones I think you've showed us! Very cool to see stuff like this!

Back to food issues from the 80s. Today's cards is from the 1989 Topps Cap'n Crunch cereal set. These cards were inserted in a cello pack inside specially marked boxes of Cap'n Crunch cereal. The packs had 2 cards and a piece of gum in them. One of my favorites is the Will Clark card, simply because when I think of Will Clark I don't think of him as having a mustache. However in 1988/89 he sported one for a while and Topps got pictures of him with it. You can also see Clark with a mustache on his 1989 Topps Coin.

I also find the no logo on the hat kind of a mystery. With the mustache thing, Ryno had the same thing going for him in the late 80's and then nothing. I guess in today's day and age, it's all about the beards! heh

I guess in today's day and age, it's all about the beards! heh The lack of team logos was fairly common on food brand cards. This was due to licensing. The interesting thing is that the cards were made by Topps and they have the MLB and MLBPA marks on the back, so I'm not sure why they airbrushed the logos, especially since they show the entire team name on the front. All I can think is that they designed the cards before having full approvals from MLB and didn't bother changing the pictures afterward.
