Another 97-98 Finest rip w/scans
Ok, so i decided to rip it rather than trade it. I never opened these before and some of the cards are really nice looking. It was a blast to open some later 90's stuff. I have always ripped 80s fleer and early 90s.
All in all I think I did ok. The refractors were weak as hell but at least I snagged a numbered one, Admiral to 1090. The embossed silvers at 1:16 were solid. I would have much preferred some type of MJ but Shaq and Kobe are about as solid as it could have been I suppose.Gold Mcdyess was disappointing. Silvers were decent: Ewing, Pippen, Mutombo, Tim Hardaway,Olajuwon and Gugliotta.
Not a huge modern collector so let me know if anyone needs anything for sets etc.
The rip bug is in full effect...97-98 Ultra Series 1 any good?

yeah you definitely did better than I did. The embossed kobe and David Robinson silver refractor are both better than anything in my box.
97-98 Ultra, always a ridiculously low chance at a platinum MJ, I think one other chase insert, either the court masters or star power cards. Can't remember which was series one.
I collect Michael Jordan, Mitch Richmond, and Ohio State players (football and basketball) in OSU gear. I strongly prefer 90's-era cards and use newer cards primarily for trade bait!

Funny was my girl opened one pack from the box and pulled the Robinson Silver refractor. The Kobe was a great pull though.
It was a very fun box but makes me realize how hard a good MJ pull is. For $100 its a big time gamble. The Ultra Platinum and gold for that matter are stunning cards as is that Masters MJ from the Finest. Would love another 90's rip but not sure what to go for... Can always just use the cash for more graded MJs...
Any nice recommendations for rippage?

the cheap way to go is 97-98 bowman's best, but if you want MJs, track down a box of that 1998 MJx stuff. It'll set you back $300 or so, but you're likely to hit at least one gold timepiece /23, have a shot at one of the GU pieces that sell REALLY high given how new they were then, and, of course, it's alllll MJ
