TTM advice - padres-style
I might be able to get this done through contacts i have, but if not:
im looking to send a 16x20 glossy photo to get signed by san diego coach and red sox world series champion Dave Roberts. it's going to be some kind of photo manipulation (something along the lines my signature). im doing this so it can be given out at my charity event next feb (i dont think i have time to get it by out summer event in august)
i have the address for the padres petco park, but having never done any TTM before - well, not in 25 years - any advice on getting there, back, improving my chance of getting it signed, etc? anyone have a better address to send it to then just the general park address?

Sorry I don't have any advice but I can't imagine that Dave Roberts is getting enough mail to prevent you from being successful through the team. Perhaps contacting their charity department and explaining your situation would improve your chances even more.

Looks like he may not sign durring the playing season. Many players do this, Jim Thome only signs durring spring trainning. Might be too late for this year.

well, the event isnt until next February, so that isnt an issue
HOWEVER....
does that mean i shouldnt send until the off-season, or send now, in hopes that it is "first come first serve" :p

I would wait. If your oversized photo is sitting around, just more chance for it to get banged up.

And I bet since it is a big item, if he can't sign it, they would probably return it

Not to be a fly in the ointment (I think what you're doing is great for the charity aspects) but just a few more things to consider.
1. If you wait to send it in, he may no longer be with the team - in today's day and age of win now or leave we see a high turnover rate in coaches.
2. Someone already mentioned it but I'd definitely try to contact their charity / public relations department. A few friends have gone that route for other things (not signings) and had really good luck with the various teams they've worked with. Of course every team has different policies.
3. If you are able to track down his home address you might have better luck sending it there, or depending on how costly it is to produce said photo, maybe send one to the team and one to him. If you get two back cool, extra door prize at the charity event.
Good luck
