Friends in Baseball,
Over the weekend I grabbed a couple of jumbos of 2023 Donruss Baseball from the local Target ... was very curious how a set of baseball cards with no current Major Leaguers was going to look.
Very glad I did!
Was absolutely stunned to pull this in the second jumbo ...
Matos is a very big deal out here in the Bay Area at the moment, and I pulled this the day he hit his first Major League home run!
Two things that made this a very surprising pull for me ... A) He has no other cards in the set, so I didn't know this card even existed and B) we have a fair amount of DB pack searchers in the area, so for this jumbo not to have been "claimed" already was a minor miracle.
Overall, between all the Rated Prospects and color parallels, it is a fun rip ... one of those products that you feel like you're going to get "something" in every pack.
Panini also filled this product with a ton of Hall of Famers, which is not a draw for me (no disrespect to said HOFers or those who collect them), but given what they had to work with without the MLBPA license, they did a nice job covering for it.
