It needs to be said up front before anyone accepts. That's just bad business practice. I just made a trade like that. But I noticed that the card title had "EXCH" in it. So I asked if it was redeemed or unredeemed. I would hope that if that had not been in the title that the person I'm trading with would tell me it was an unredeemed card. Had I received an unused redemption card I would definitely be pissed off. Luckily the card I traded for was redeemed and received by the other trader so it was perfect. It's ok to trade an unused redemption but it absolutely has to mentioned up front. Whoever you traded with was being extremely shady, because like you said, you may try to redeem it and you may get a replacement. That would suck!
