RE: 1984-85 Star Jordan XRC Advice
The star co stuff is still underrated! I've purchased all but one of Clyde Drexlers Star Co stuff BGS9.5 in the past 12 months.
I use the investment thing all the time, it's harder with an exchange rate to deal with.
The Australian dollar has dropped a lot in recent times.
I'm up nearly 20c per dollar on my last big purchase though so that's good I guess.

I got into the Star stuff in the early-mid 90s, but I'm not sure if I sold it or not. My brother is checking for me this weekend, because anything I had would be back in NY, 3000 miles away.
You could take the investment thing further. The cards can be a hedge against the inflation of the Australian dollar relative to the US dollar. I'm sure there's a Youtube video you can use as evidence.

Thanks. It's fun getting back into things, although I miss breaking open old wax packs...without spending hundreds for each pack!

You guys are a bad influence. I wound up getting an 85-86 Star and an 86-87 Fleer, too!

The 85-86 Star is a BGS 9, with 3 9.5 sub-grades (edges are 8.5, probably due to the color bleeding on the back). The 86-87 is a PSA 7. I was going to get an 8, but this one looked better than some of the 8's, it was cheaper, and it even came with a free wax box of 2012-13 Panini. That was hard to pass up. I'll probably still want to get a BGS 9 or 9.5 later, but I figured I should wait since I got the 84-85 Star.
Yesterday I worked from home, and my wife left to pick up the kids from school 2 minutes before the mail came. I now have some more time to build a case!

That's a good idea. I need to show them to my brother, especially to further enhance my joke on him.
He doesn't know it, but I sent him 84-85 Star and 86-87 Fleer Jordan reprints as a joke. I wish I could see his face when he opens the package, as well as when he realizes they're fake (they're pretty good fakes)!
